My parents ALWAYS notice if my weight changes, and always point it out even when I don't notice it.
I actually appreciate it because it makes me more aware of what's going on with my body.

My mom is the brutal one in my family..my brothers are very good at giving compliments.. If i've been pounding the gym and looking all buff..my mom would say things like.."Where is your neck"??...
"Your calves are lookin' like cows".. stuff like that..most times it's funny but once in a while i really get annoyed!...

Barbie..you have to set clear standards for yourself..be your best and worst critic..and screw everyone else!

My Mom thinks everyone who looks at me wants to date me. Guy and girl. It's really embarrassing actually.

She once was talking to a gay friend of mine on the phone and she said

"So...are you going to be coming over anytime soon so I can meet you?...Oh, so it's been a while since you've seen Jonathan huh?...Oh, well do you think the moment you see him you'll be tempted?...Oh, no? Well, my son's quite handsome and I don't see how you'll be able to keep your paws off him. Now before I let you in my house I'm going to need your Social Security so I can conduct a background check and make sure you're not crazy...Oh, you say you're not crazy? That's what crazy people say. If you have to say you're not crazy, you're probably crazy."
It's funny and I know most Moms wouldn't be so cool with that but....sometimes it's just awkward.

My Dad and brothers however, don't really compliment me too much, and I prefer that.

A couple years ago I was 190 lbs, not fat, but bigger than I wanted to be, so I started watching my diet and got down to 150 lbs. So, 30 lbs made a big difference, but what did my friends and family say - "you're too skinny."

This summer I cut my hair short, really short, buzzed actually - and they said "it's too short."

I usually only hear from friends and family when they don't like something. For positive response I turn to total strangers on the internet. I post pics and wait for the compliments and ego boosts to roll in.
(Feel free to express your compliments in photo comments, my self esteem depends on it, thanks.)

This is irrelevant, cause I don't dress to impress others. If I do get a compliment, thank you.

I remember far too well being the freakishly weird, dork/nerd/geek of every stereotype rolled into one, for most of my youth. Puberty only showed me how shady people can be after I got a different pair of glasses and the rest of me got "better looking". The people who hated me, suddenly liked... and I wasn't buying any of it.

I'm over the hatred aspect of it, and have befriended those guys since then; but the only thing that remains is a deeper appreciation for the friends that were good to me when I was still a "nobody" to world. Looks are fine and all, but nothing I get overly concerned over if someone doesn't approve of my "image".

Style advice is welcome; though not entirely necessary.

Yes, but they do it with jealousy and suspicion, as if I had to make a pact with the devil to look like this.icon_twisted.gif

My close family has certainly always has acknowledged my fitness efforts.
I do get some interesting comments and compliments from cousins and others. I received a "Magic Mike" comment during out last famly gathering and I just rolled my eyes. Generally I'm complimentary back.
