Most websites that I'm a paid member on cost around $30 per year. Given that a paid membership on RJ is so much more expensive than that, and given that there are a lot of really hot broke-ass college-age guys on here, I think there would be a demand for a new feature on this site:
The option of donating or gifting a paid membership for another user.
What do you think? Should this be included as one of the link options on the left side when you view a profile? "Buy him paid membership!"... where you then have the option of how many days you want to pay for?
And to all you broke guys on here: You think you got what it takes to wiggle your butt and get a paid membership out of it? How about you use this forum to ask for people to donate to you? Come on! There are plenty of generous people out there, I'm sure! Post a reply with you best picture and your story about why you deserve to have some wealthy guy buy you a membership!
This could turn into a whole new section of the site!

How do you know I'm not just a big sugar-daddy that wants to pay for memberships for hot boys? Actually, as it happens there are about half a dozen "starving young student" types on Livejournal to whom I've given a year's paid membership just because I was feeling generous. On the flip side, I've also had people pay for my memberships on sites before. But don't assume it just goes one way.

I think that what should happen is that if you are unable to continue your membership or you are tired of the site then instead of that membership expiring then you can give the remaining time to someone else already on the site.
UK website Outeverywhere.com has this feature and is particularly useful when people flounce off the boards in a huff.

That potentially would decrease the site's revenue.
What I'm suggesting (a "gift" or "donate" feature) actually has no downside for the site at all, which is why I think it would be a great feature to add.

Why not just ask flat out for what you want. Hahaha.
Maybe RJ should have a donation bin. Donate clothing, gym equip etc...
Not for me though. I get my stuff on my own.

If you want to donate $ for a membership, why not simply send the $$ via paypal, for example, to a member here, 5537B00B, and he can pay for the membership himself. I'm pretty sure that he will not steal the $ because you do trust him after all.

People have to pay for this site? What different is it from my free membership?

MikeMikeMike and 26MileMan,
You're both working on the assumption that I want someone to pay for my account. As I've said in one of my replies above, I also have enjoyed donating paid account time to those who are less able to afford it than me.
As to the PayPal idea -- I also like the fact that some sites (like LiveJournal) allow you to anonymously donate. It's kind of fun and playful, in my opinion. It's sweet to get a gift of 6 months of membership from someone anonymously. It can also be a thrill (for some) to donate paid time to someone you think is fun, or interesting, or just plain hot.
I think it's something that a lot of people would get a kick out of. And most importantly, for those of you who don't "understand" what's fun about it... well, it doesn't detract, does it? I mean, you can always simply not click on the link...

First, I'm joking, it's o.k.
I wasn't assuming you wanted someone to pay for your account. I was JOKINGLY suggesting it seems you want us to pay for hot, young guys so there is sweet eye candy to oggle.
