Canadian artist Jon Rafman is an unusual photographer – he explores Google Street Views and takes screenshots of the most incredible sights here. From a toddler left on street to a tiger roaming near a convenience store – “with its supposedly neutral gaze, the Street View photography had a spontaneous quality unspoiled by the sensitivities or agendas of a human photographer,” says Jon.

The original pictures were actually shot by an army of Google’s hybrid electric automobiles, each equipped with 9 cameras on a single pole. That’s why Jon calls his project “The Nine Eyes of Google Street View.”

Calling them "shocking and unexpected" is a bit of overkill. I'm not sure how the teepee'd house quite fits into that category.

Unexpected is the correct formal art term, especially considering how these were captured (by a completely objective camera). A few of those are pretty shocking things to have completely stumbled upon at random.

I didn't click the link. But from the top of my head, at least two I've seen were pretty shocking..

    - Google Street View car ran over a deer.
    - Supposedly dead guy on his porch, looked like he was shot.

Another interesting one that I remember..
Some guy in a motorized wheelchair cruising down the side of the road, wearing some type of demon/skull mask.

Haha the 5th picture, I know where it has been taken. It's in the 19th arrondissement of Paris...

It's actually quite common for women to leave their baby's stranded outside of Gucci stores.

I think a lot of these are fakes. Like the couple making out in front of the "meat market" sign. Please. icon_rolleyes.gif

Given that the Google fleet travel along just about every street in the world, I think these pictures confirm that, contrary to what the news outlets would have you believe, daily life for most people is anything but shocking and unexpected.

Here's a funny one that the google vehicle captured in Norway of two people just sitting in their driveway in scuba outfits, and then they start chasing the google vehicle. This was so funny to me because it's so random that they starting chasing the van in those flipper feet.

The tiger is reported to be a statue placed in the parking lot by one of the businesses there to bring attention and is always there.
