So my college put on a production of Rocky Horror tonight so my roommate and I went down to see it. As we were waiting in the lobby for the show to start we were talking to these other guys who were also waiting for the show. Apparently they were these big time theatre fans and knew EVERYTHING about Rocky Horror blah blah blah. So my roomie is just the obvious clueless straight guy about these kinds of things. He's just talking and they're just kissing his ass even though he has no idea what's going on. So I mention to them that I seen Rocky Horror from the Glee episode and they completely shot me down. They just scoffed at me like they were better than me because I just happen to only know about the dumb musical because it was on Gleeicon_rolleyes.gif

Well I don't think it's theater gays that shot you down, more like crazy Rocky Horror fans. Even though they want to claim they love different people, they hate it when someone outside of the Rocky Horror (or "freak") scene tries to get into their group. It's kind of like, they're a group of outsiders and don't want anyone there but people like them (Rocky Horror fans).

And well, even though I'm a major gleek... they kind of messed it up a bit, but still did it justice in a way but, to a Rocky Horror diehard, they destroyed it.

Anyway, don't blame all theater gays... you just had a bad experience with Rocky Horror fanatics.

Theater people can be different sometimes ... If you are not a theater person, they do have a tendency to look down on you

a conversation about rocky horror where you bring up you saw it on glee is the equivalent of talking about shakespeare and you mentioning you watched reading rainbow as a kid.

People really into any subject can come off as snobbish. Try talking about music and see what happens icon_biggrin.gif

    Agreed with MarkRoger:

I've seen Rocky Horror Picture Show live and the original movie many times. I know the lines and the audience participation parts. Its fun. But some people are hardcore fans of RHPS and really get into it.

In the Glee episode, they did what they always do: they adapted the songs to fit the Glee world in a contemporary way. Gleeks would appreciate the adaptation and reinterpretation. But for hardcore RHPS fans, Glee destroyed it, took all the tongue-in-cheek out, de-sexualized it, and dulled the edge off until it was almost unrecognizable.

But "thee-ah-tah pee-pole" love their drama, and thats all this was. Them being know-it-alls and grandstanding for their audience: your hot straight roommate.
