Interesting discovery.. In this case, if the molecules were discovered in the region of a "sun like star" and the distance was similar (from our own
"Sol" to Uranus" (which by the way is 1.7 billion miles), I doubt if it would do much of anything... way too far away from that star ... but the point is, it probably is replicated many, many times in our galaxy and elsewhere.. and gives more credibility to the notion that "life" is not unusual.

wow, I had no idea sugars had ever been detected in space. that is really bizarre. I'm more interested in where the hell they came from/how they were made... it seems odd that individual atoms would just sort of glom together in outer space given how vast it is...

    Interesting article.
Many organic molecules have been found in space, often in gas/dust clouds; even up to amino acids, and many other molecules involved in the biochemistry of life.
The surfaces of the tiny dust grains provide a site for chemical interactions and stellar radiation powers the changes. Once formed, the shading of the dust and the low temperatures preserve these molecules for lengthy periods.
It all seems highly plausible that when solar systems form, they come with preformed, complex molecules; planetary, chemical evolution(and then biological) does not start from scratch.

On the 7th day, Jesus rode a dinosaur to church and told his congregation to hate gays, shoot immigrants and to vote for Mitt Romney.

And on the third day, God created the Remington bolt-action rifle, so that Man could fight the dinosaurs. And the homosexuals.
