    The only really odd thing about this bike is the high frame, from which the rider is suspended by a harness. I have to think that's not only less comfortable and less convenient than a saddle, but also makes for a heavier bike that's top-heavy.

    But the concept of a bike that you paddle along the ground (velocipede - literally "swift foot") is nearly 200 years old, and preceded the invention of crank and chain-driven bicycles.
