If I put money on a reloadable credit card on Monday, how long does it take for the money to get through so I can make a purchase? They said it'll be on by tomorrow, well it is tomorrow... where is my money!?

Well how long does a transaction like this normally take? Why does it have to take so long?

Depends on the bank really...some are slower than others. Usually my money posts in a day.

I need to buy something now! There's only one left! Someone might steal it before the morning comes!

For some odd reason, for this card they don't let that happen... I think they said I need an account in the bank to do that... sigh.

Easy solution.... Maybe you should have put money on the card a little earlier and it would already be there.

It all depends on the issuer of the card. Some will probably take longer than others to post to your account. If they say it will be available on the next business day, then it won't show up until after 6:00 A.M. or so. Everything is done with file transfers and uploads, so yours posts along with everyone else's at the same time.
Also, Monday was a holiday, so it was not a business day, which sometimes delays things.

I lot of it depends on where you loaded the card. Did you do it online directly to the bank, or did you load it at a store. If you leaded it at a store, it will depend on when they transmit the transaction to the bank. Most large chains will transmit right away and your money is available within a couple of hours and the smaller stores only transmit once a day. Once it has been transmitted, your money should be available within an hour or so. I know that when I worked for both Walgreens and Family Dollar, your money is available within an hour or two. If you load it at the bank where the card is from, it should be available right away.

Mark, wouldn't it have been easier just paying cash at the store for what you wanted rather than put the money on a card and then go buy what you wanted?

    intrigued,

    -Doug
