    http://mashable.com/2012/09/05/hacker-ransom-romney-tax-returns/

A team of hackers claim to have Romney's tax returns and are threatening to release them to the public at the end of the month if Romney doesn't pay a million dollars in ransom.

Will Romney cough up the million to prevent his tax dodging secrets from becoming public?

I'm not a fan of computer hackers, but this could get interesting. Who will take the bait first?

    Yup.
Mitt certainly has spare millions lying around so he can definitely afford to pay them off - but if he does it will make him look guilty as hell.

Maybe there will be a bidding war. If anyone were to pay the ransom to keep them hidden, it would make even more of an impression that there is something to hide.

He can easily have one of his billionaire buddies start a PAC and buy them off the hackers under the radar.

Why would paper copies be sitting around in a file in PWC's Tennessee office? What were they, just waiting to be pilfered on someone's desk in a shiny golden file labeled "Mitt"? This sounds like complete and utter bullshit.

It's so icon_lol.gif That the left want to punish Mitt for being successful, but then Obama want to punish them too; albeit there is nothing humble about the First lady's spending.

The City Paper of Nashville is reporting they were taken by accessing the computers in the office.

    It doesn't.
The article states that Romney's tax returns "were copied" and not just picked up off a desk.

Why did the Secret Service swoop in and collect the information that was sent to the Dem and Repub offices?

It's the job of the Secret Service to protect the life of the president - and this doesn't fall under that job description.

His campaign isn't full of complete idiots. They wouldn't allow a candidate to take so much political heat over the issue unless there was something more damning in the tax returns. He said himself that releasing them would only give his opposition more ammunition to use against him, so I'm pretty interested to see what's in there.

Also, one of the GOP's main talking points is that the "job creators" are overburdened by oppressive taxation. In the one complete return he has released, he paid a lower percentage of taxes than I did. He also said himself that he has never paid a lower percentage of taxes than he did in 2010 under President Obama. I would like to see if that is true, and if it is then where is all this bullshit about oppressive taxation coming from?

    You're correct.
The Repub "job creator" talking point is a total lie.
Just one of the many many big lies that the GOP have made up.

    http://www.truth-out.org/buzzflash/commentary/item/11722-exposing-the-job-creator-fraud

It's just another Repub lie designed to try to get middle class Americans to accept even more tax cuts for the rich.

I think all the brouhaha over the tax returns is hilarious. Once they are revealed and they show only that - SHOCKER - Mitt Romney is a highly successful, incredibly wealthy man, who is also extremely charitable -- the dems will be like a great big bin of scrambled egg on the face.

Every poll taken on the subject has shown a majority of Americans want to see more of Romney's tax returns released. It's apparently more important than you think.

Well we know it is all about the money with you socal. Perhaps you should spend a little less time drooling over fancy watches and fast cars and worry a little more about why the Repubs think you are a second class citizen.

elvis_tlh saidYes, Truman Capote look-a-like. Just reading through a few of these posts I feel like I've fallen into some kind of Liberal Twilight Zone episode. We Democrats do NOT think like these posts are indicating.

You are all focusing on the WRONG thing. If we Democrats keep crowing about such ridiculousness we will LOSE not only the Presidency but also even more seats in Congress. I haven't seen so many crazy postings since I used to log on to Huffington Post and ThinkProgress.org.

    "WE Democrats" LMAO!!!!

Your transparent attempt at falsely presenting the Democratic point of view is a FAIL.

BTW, I often jokingly explain that my look (actually acquired for sun protection during my cancer treatment) is due to my channeling Truman Capote. Thanks for confirming my own humorous observation. So that your attempt at ridiculing me personally, a typical tactic of you Right Wingers when you can't argue the actual point at hand, is also a FAIL. icon_razz.gif

Nice slogan (on a tacky t-shirt), but the president doesn't spend money. Congress does.
