As someone who worked for the railway, I can tell you that this man either did it as a stunt, or out of extreme stupidity. Also, a lot of people die this way. This man was extremely lucky that the train was not dragging something, or that it did not have any cars with bays on the bottoms, like hoppers. He would have been horribly maimed or killed. Thankful that he survived though, but let this be a lesson to anyone who watches the video, to stay off the railway line.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.~~Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)

I just fast forwarded to the surprise ending. Not surprising the idiot has such a shit for a friend, taking pictures instead of being ready to pull the guy if he needed help when he tried to escape. A decapitation or an amputation would have made an amazing youtube. Awesome!

I was on a train once when we hit a kid on a minibike, riding down the track with back to us. Those ipod ear buds must work really well. We were in the middle of nowhere. The kid managed to not get crushed and went running away into the woods, leaving his mangled bike. We had to wait hours on law enforcement helicopters to arrive on scene and write it all up.

The kids are so much more creative now than we used to be. All we ever did was use the trains to squash pennies.

That was sheer stupidity. Stunt or no stunt he was extremely fortunate.

Earlier in the year, a girl got severely injured by crossing into a streetcar path. Don't know if she survived or not.

Sometimes if the train is sitting at a block people try to get around the train by crawling under it.

That happens here in New Orleans a lot with automobiles on the St. Charles Ave line. Nobody gets hurt usually because the old girls don't pick up much speed but it showcases driver stupidity since you grow up being taught that the streetcar has the right of way unless you've got a green light.

Can be quite serious on LRT lines where trains travel at higher speeds
