This is a interesting story. I usually have a glass of red wine because of its benefits, but now it appears that the non-alcoholic version might be a better benefit. Additionally, for those that had an issue with alcohol it might be viable option as well. Now just got find those wines...lolicon_smile.gif

This is good news. Now... If someone would just make a non-alcoholic red wine that tastes half-way decent!

That's what I was gonna ask. I've been trying to drink a few glasses of red a week (and eat a few squares of 90% dark chocolate) for heart health but the alcohol in the wine can be annoying to have to fit into the calorie/macro equation sometimes. Not that I don't like drinking, but especially on lower calorie days I much prefer food.icon_biggrin.gif

I would think much better for you - the sugars which were converted to alcohol are filtered out, right? So no sugar bomb like with grape juice. But I don't know, I've never had any.

According to the study is the “

The non-alcoholic part of the wine -- namely polyphenols -- exert a protective effect on the cardiovascular system,” says researcher Ramon Estruch, MD, PhD of the University of Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. “Polyphenols also have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may be useful to prevent other disease such as diabetes."

This. Haven't they already proven that a glass of wine a day can be beneficial?
