Iran WILL retaliate against Israel's attack.

If it's just prior to the U.S. Presidential election.... it seems Obama will not have any choice but to attack Iran in support of Israel.

Russia WILL NOT be happy. Russia has helped Iran build its nuclear capabilities and many Russians work/live at the Iranian sites that will be targeted by Israel.... resulting in Russians being killed, too. How will Russia respond?

Meanwhile, Egypt's new President recently had a high-profile visit to Iran. Will Egypt attack Israel??? (Maybe he doesn't have any control over Egypt's military... but besides that... maybe the military will want to attack regardless of instructions by the President.)

    GOOD POINT !

The price of bacon... and all food will rise because Iran will shut the Straight of Hormuz. Oil prices will spike to $170 bbl (???) and all transportation costs... and thereby the cost of items transported... will rise.

Gasoline in the U.S. could spike to $5.50 (???) per gallon... or more. A substantial cost increase to American commuters, trucking, airlines, etc., that will HURT the U.S. and world economies.

Remember, too .... there's not a whole lot of oil in countries' reserves right now, since many of them have been tapped immediately after the Iranian sanctions went into effect a couple months ago.

The U.S. will go into recession... the cost of heating oil will have a tremendous jump as winter is kicking in.

Congress will TRY to act to provide some relief for the elderly and poor... but Republicans will block it.

Well... I guess the point of this thread IS to scare you.... or actually, to help INFORM you of what's quite likely to happen.

I'd like to get the views of others, too... about what they think will happen and... perhaps... how to prepare the best we can.

    TRUE.

But rather than buying a new iPhone for $600 or whatever it is... maybe it would be better to try and prepare a bit and use that for buying oil futures... oil stocks... oil options or put options on FedEx or the airline or trucking companies who will initially take a bit hit from the spike.

    Yeah... BUT... Why is that??

Is it because they don't REALIZE what's going to happen?

Or.... just because they don't either care or understand how it will affect them?

To where and whom will Americans choose to send aid? Charitable contributions? (Those that will be left that can afford to do it.)

    To Israel???

    To Iran???

Or.... will they choose to help provide to the poor in the U.S. who will have trouble affording food and heating oil ???

Saudi Arabia has been wanting to put Iran in check for a long time. Since Israeli jets will cross Saudi Arabia for their attacks... and refuel at U.S. bases on their way home to help defend against Iran's imminent attack.. Iran will attack the U.S. bases in Saudi Arabia's territory and bring that country into the war.

United Arab Emirates has employed outside mercenary companies to help prepare for this war and for defending UAE... which means they will be attacking Iran, too.

Iran will close the shipping lanes..... where U.S. ships are already stationed. Which means.. they will be firing upon U.S. ships.

Will the U.S. attack EGYPT's forces too??? (If they decide to attack Iran based on their President's recent trip/friendship with Iran?)

Will the Suez canal be blocked, too? (effectively shutting off all Gulf oil supply to Europe?)

Will Russia block natural gas shipments to Europe in retaliation for European countries joining in the fight? Will Europeans freeze this winter from lack of natural gas?

It will be interesting to see what happens, there have been a few rumours going about this and that in my circles.

I have my doubts though as to the validity of the reporting. Nothing ever true is in the news. As you and I both know "lots of shit goes down that no one ever hears about.icon_wink.gif

The U.S. deficit will reach its next cap. The Republican's will not want to approve raising the cap. The Democrats will put forth a bill to approve the increasing of the debt limit and for military costs... BUT.... will try and put in funding for the elderly and poor suffering from high food costs and heating oil costs.

The Republicans will block the increase because it includes social spending.... the debt limit increase will not be approved..... soldiers, social security recipients will not get their checks (for at least a month)... the Occupy Movement will gain force.... protests and violence will take place before Republicans finally give in to a "compromise".... which COULD drag on weeks or months.

Sounds like Israel will do what it did back in 1981 with Iraq and its nuclear reactor site. Interesting fact is that Iran attacked the Iraqi reactor 3 months prior to the Israeli attack. I doubt it will escalate into a full blown war.

Iran's military capabilities have grown substantially so that they're now able to inflict considerable damage to Israel on a counter-attack that they WILL make. the data on their weapons is from 2004.

I'm concerned about how such a war might influence the US November election. Is Israel holding the Obama Administration hostage over this? Fail to support Israel and the Republican political counterstrike will be instantaneous. If the US goes to war with Iran there will be equal damage to Obama.

Israel is already funneling campaign money to Romney through their surrogate Adelson. The timing of this can be seen as an attempt to help Romney.

Whether there is an actual Israeli attack on Iran or not, the Administration may be forced to clarify the US position. And any Obama response, one way of the other, will be exploited by the Romney camp. Campaign 2012 is shaping up to be very ugly, with interference by foreign governments like Israel the new normal.
