You would think by now after all the serious health problems and deaths caused by steroid use, that many bodybuilders would completely avoid these horrendous and now unlawful drugs. But some bodybuilders unfortunately don't "get it".

I dont necessarily agree that they shouldnt have a place - but I do agree they shouldn't be used illicitly.

I for one would really like to spend as many years in the peak of health and strength, given the choice.

If that means using HGH under the advice of a practitioner, then I will.

I'm pretty sure that using Steroids would for me become a shortcut to something I will achieve eventually anyway - I'm in it for the journey, not just the destination.

Just wait until the drug using bodybuilders have to deal with the diagnoses of cardiomyopathy, cardiomegaly, cardiac hypertrophy and prostate cancer. Then they'll get to ask themselves if it was all worth it.

I don't take steroids (and I don't plan to), but the problem isn't steroid use. It's steroid abuse. Medical studies have shown that steroids, when used properly, have many benefits without long or short term adverse side effects. Unfortunately, most people that use steroids abuse them, take them too frequently, don't cycle properly, and become addicted to their effects. If people took the time (and restraint) to actually be responsible with them, it wouldn't be an issue.

FWIW, I'm not advocating steroid use.

Unfortunately that misinformation is all over the internet. Though he did suffer from Lymphoma, he was being treated for it and there was every indication that he would recover. But he died suddenly of a blood clot during treatment for the Lymphoma.

I'm curious for you to please tell me a single death that was caused by steroids. Medical professionals agree that there is no such case. Dateline did a story on it that there actually haven't been deaths, and anyone who says otherwise is ill-informed.

Right, because someone died when they were taking steroids, the steroids killed them. Medical professionals all agree that if steroids are taken in moderation and the way intended, they will not kill you. Saying steroids are bad because you have a list of twelve people you claim to have died from them is no different than me pointing out a list of people who choked to death on a ham sandwich and saying that ham sandwiches must be bad.

Yeah, soooo, I'm gonna keep smoking because I could get cancer anyway. Great logic.
Keep using your steroids if it makes you feel good. I couldn't care less. This post wasn't meant to change your mind or the minds of those like you who are set in their ways. It was meant for people who care about their bodies and quality of life. And for those who are interested in developing a real body using natural means.
Isn't there a roids thread somewhere you can be posting to, instead of ranting here hoping others will validate your lifestyle?

This isn't true. That's why it isn't taken seriously. Making them illegal was a political manuever, without FDA support.

Problems come when people don't cycle and they aren't careful with thier cholesterol levels.

It does cause a proneness to athletes heart (according to research) which people commonly point to as a problem with steriods. Athletes heart is the thickening of the heart walls which is not dangerous. It is called Athletes heart because ATHLETES are prone to it. Especially track athletes. Your heart is a muscle and when you work it out it grows.

It should be outlawed in sports including professional body building.

Wow. It's crazy that every problem the gay world faces(denial, narcissism, substance abuse, muscle fetishism, hypocrisy, superficiality, etc) could be summed up in a single thread. Kudos!

What is the point you're trying to make? Not everyone who gets cancer is out there doing steroids. People who don't take recreational drugs or steroids or who drink or smoke can still get cancer or blood clots or aneurysms and die, unfortunately.

Eating well is not a 100% guarantee to living forever.

It's not like he was a spring chicken. He lived until the age of seventy-four.

Exactly my point.Taking steroids is not a death sentence .Guys who workout at home could be breathing in radon gas and get cancer.

And maybe you should rush yourself to a plastic surgeon to do something about that damn face of yours. All the muscles in the world can't help you with a face like that. Then again, surgeons can't work miracles.

I've never had an interest in bodybuilding, don't follow that field. So I didn't realize how freakish some of these guys look nowadays. While someone like Reeves or Schwarzenegger could go into movies, I can't imagine that some of those guys I saw in the clip could appear in anything but horror films, although not needing any monster makeup might appeal to low-budget filmmakers.

At least until they can't take steroids any more, and then I don't wanna think how those guys are gonna appear in the future. Even now some of them look like a dissected cadaver. UGH icon_razz.gif
