Being afraid of heights, this would be my ideal vocation. I'd work one day & then retire from life (i.e. I'd die on the spot).

Oh, that's much higher than the tree houses we used to build.

When I worked construction I used to get a kick out of climbing up the tower crane during lunch. Only about 200plus feet up, but still, 200 feet up on a stick.

Here's one I climbed looking down through the cage

Here's how the cranes get themselves up there...

Am I the only one who gets tingles in a fun way when I watch this? I think it'd be a cool way to feel the sensation of being high up and (actually) in relative safety. You think OSHA would let them do that without all sorts of safety measures in place? No sir. Crossing the street is still way more dangerous than climbing up a tower like that.

OMG ...you are so screwed if you suddenly gotta use the bathroom ... Talk about high stress jobs, I wonder if anyone ever had a heartache on the way up, or up at the top.

And I quote a friend here, but, "Russia is, like, a machine for destroying happiness."

I use to be able to be at heights and never bothered, now I look down and get all wheezie.... anyone else change? But I have no problems hopping on a ride that's miles above the ground...weird.

This is almost as scary as the job itself.....

Salaries start at less than $25,430 in the 10th percentile for radio tower climbers as of May 2010, reports the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Climbers in the 25th percentile earn less than $30,360 a year, the median income is $39,740 and wages exceed $52,350 in the 75th percentile. In the 90th percentile, salaries exceed $63,140 a year, and the average salary is $42,090.

depending on where I would have to live. 42 is not so terrible but I think I'll keep my current job. Climbing the tower would be fun the first 100 times then Im sure it gets really old.

No way. Just watching that video made me a little uncomfortable. My arms would be shaking and that little clip would do me no good. Imagine if a strong gust of wind came by out of nowhere....
