OK, this isn't surprising to me, but it's an interesting read:

I'm attempting to reach the crowd of men that ignore the challenges out there for gay men and women because of their own acceptance. For those that feel you cant come out because of the town you live in or the way you were raised, remember there is always someone out there just like you and no matter how far backward your environment is, you can be the one to push it into the here and now.

That guy should have been fired. What a dick. I'm glad she got some money out of such a messed up situation.

To know that stuff like that goes on is terrible. I'm glad that girl's got some good friends and supporters.

What a moron. The principle deserved to get demoted. Although I would have fired his ass.

I regret that there are people like this in any position involving kids and fairness. He should have had his ass out the door.

muchmorethanmuscle saidWhat more can you expect from the SE of this country? If anyone knows anything about the swamplands of Florida and all the white supremacist homophobic trash that lurks about in the majority of that state you wouldn't be surprised. That is tragic. The only cities I'd ever go to in Florida are Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa and Miami.

I kind of like Palm Beach myself.

I'm sure there are some anywhere that are "challenged" in their understanding of homosexuality. I would always encourage us to show these people we are grounded, respectful (to a point) and good people.
It could run counter to their understanding and beliefs about gays.

There are people other than just caucasians that are homophobic, regardless of the location.

"He went so far as to lift the shirts of female students to insure the letters 'GP' or the words 'Gay Pride' were not written on their bodies."

And he was telling the poor girl to stay away from children?

    What a fucking sicko.

This story outraged me yesterday, as well. I wish there was something I could do. But there are no helpful resources in that area. The Principal is probably representative of the community. I hope some of her friends continue to protest.

This latest action just proves that Florida is an overwhelmingly red, republican state that contains the blue, democratic islands of Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Miami Beach, and Key West. This bullshit just does not surprise me one bit.
