I'm looking buy a few different sizes of hex dumbells to have at home - not one of those all-in-one sets which seem clunky and cumbersome.

I can't really find anything much cheaper than $1 per pound - is this a decent price or does anyone have suggestions for a place to find them cheaper?

I also checked craigslist but there's not much on offer.

LOL Keep watching CL, especially in about March.

Otherwise, I think about a dollar a pound is about the standard. I think I just scouted out the big chain sports outlets in the nearest city to find which one had the best price. Then bought one pair every paycheck. Of course, you can buy a bunch of the lighter weights all at once for the same amount as one pair of larger weights.

I kept my old adjustable set just to use for my heaviest dumbbell, and had to buy some larger plates for it. It's about maxed out now though around 80.

try searching craigslist under both dumbells and dumbbells, because some people spell it wrong and some people spell it right. also try searching under weights.

then flea markets, garage sales, and Play It Again Sports are good bets.

I paid about a dollar a pound for mine, but sometimes they go on sale. Since I bought them I found lots of them at yard sales and estate sales.

Thanks for all the replies - I'm guessing CL lights in up march with all the failed resolutions?

And oops, dumbbells... my bad. That's embarrassingly ironic.
