It was pretty boring. It looked exactly like the leaked pics. Hardware was nothing great... welcome to 2011. New connector is cool but I hope the adaptor is cheap. Camera is the same but .00001 mm thinner. Panorama? Really? That's been on Samsung phones since the first Galaxy S. I believe HTC phones have it as well. The only thing I personally thought was cool was the new ipod Nano.

For $99, I think the 4S is a great deal. No compelling reason to get the 5 unless you want LTE.

Guess every single fucking Apple connector I have now is completely useless.

    Typical.

One of my friends on Facebook mentioned that it's reversible -- but probably via adapter.

But only a 4 inch screen? My old Droid X has a bigger one. icon_sad.gif

The presentation mentioned an adapter. So all your docks and connectors are still good. Probably going to cost at least $20 each. icon_neutral.gif

Panorama has been on iPhone since iOS5 they just disabled it because it wasn't working quite to their standards(i know cause im an iOS developer). Anyways, there were apps capable of doing so already available anyways. It is just built in like facebook integration. Whats the point in complaining about this particular feature tho? People complained when it didnt have it and now that it has it they still complain?

This phone was a major improvement over the previous generation, and except for NFC support I dont know what else people could have possibly expected. Better RAM, better Processor, redesign, better build quality, better speaker system, Multiple variants of LTE(for different networks across the globe), 720p front facing camera, face time over 3G/LTE, bigger screen size, better screen saturation, thinner profile, lighter, dual band wifi, smaller dock connector, jeez even better earphones. I mean really? I have yet not seen a product line that improves so much over its previous iteration. All of this packed into a 4" casing, no need to make your phone 5"+ in order to fit all these features.

People should be slightly more realistic with their expectations just saying...

Thats the only way to make slim it down, Apple hasnt changed their iPod connector for almost a decade, it had to happen at some point. Hopefully those adapters will be cheap enough and they better come in packs of 10 cause I need about 20.

I didn't say I want it to be 5"+... But when it comes to phone screen real estate, every little bit helps. I don't think it's unrealistic to want a 4.3" at least... Most of the other OS smart phones begin at that size.

But not the chargers, just the cables. The new and old are both USB on one end, so my chargers are still the same, and it still plugs into the computers. Even charging in the car is unchanged, because I plug into a USB plug in the console, I don't need a separate 12v car charger unit.

So I'll need to buy 2 new cables, in addition to the one that'll come with the iPhone 5. The computer gets 1 permanently, another stays in the car glovebox with a 110v charger, and the third is in an accessory wallet for the luggage when I travel, along with another 110v charger.

The only thing I might potentially lose is the Bose music dock. Don't know if Apple's pin adapter will work with the Bose cradle, or if Bose will have a solution.

I expect to get a 5 in early November, like I did with the 4S, to make sure there are no surprise problems with them. And let some of the sales clamor die down. I hope white is available right away, so I have a choice. I read a review that said the white 5 isn't as nice looking as my white 4S, because of the metal back, something I'll decide for myself.

It's just fucking annoying that it still isn't a universal connector...that part makes no sense to me. You had the last connector forever, and now that you finally make the leap to a different ones....it's still not something "normal"? It's just so typical Apple...God forbid they make anything that happens to be compatible with something non-Apple.

There already is an industry standard to transfer audio/video content through a USB shaped plug. Apple just wants to think different by taking more money from you. icon_lol.gif

LOL. I'm not complaining about panorama. It's just they're touting it like it's a revolutionary advance in their camera when it's not. Same with the other "new" features. Fact is that the iphone5 is nothing special, so they're really reaching to make the little things seem spectacular. Honestly, the real star is iOS6 and not much the phone itself. Maybe the iphone6 will offer something more interesting.

I'm not impressed! I'll update my 4s with the new iOS software and not feel like I'm missing out anything by not upgrading..

Just like every other product release--people will complain and then once they get their hands on it, end up saying its amazing. Well, except for the haters. Some people will always shit on apple no matter what they release.

People can't be as bad off financially as they say if they are going to rush out and buy a new iPhone.

    This is too funny..

    http://www.bgr.com/2012/09/11/goophone-i5-propaganda-video-apple-lawsuit-threatened/

I think it's weird that Apple didn't keep a tighter grip on product leaks. The Goophone is a pretty spot-on replica. On the 4 and 4S, they had several dummy units floating around to prevent this sort of thing. Seems like Apple isn't trying anymore. icon_neutral.gif

Though a solid device, and it is the logical next step, I still think it's meh. Their devices has lost their "aw" and seem to now be playing catch up. Even iOS6 is playing catch up with features that have been in Android and Windows Phone 7 since it's inception. But nonetheless, I'm sure they will still sell several million during it's first week of release.

As far as the new adapter, like any other Apple branded adapter, it will likely be at least $30......and it looks like I was right.
