Hey guys, anyone have a good way of finding a workout partner? Are there any websites that help in matching up potential workout partners based on what their goals are?

I'd love to be able to find a workout partner here in Chicago to go running with and help get me into some strength training, but unfortunately my gym doesn't offer any kind of matching service like that.

    Thanks!

I asked the same question in a forum post when I joined this site. I was told to use Craigslist. That was in April 2012, I still don't have a workout partner. I'm content going by myself though.

You are also in a better metropolitan area than I am, so it might be much easier for you than for me.

Honestly, i wake up every morning at 5:30 AM and hit the gym. I see the same regulars every morning. A few my age. After a while we all began to notice each other. Now we all say hello and friendly nods. Often I get them to spot me. Every so often we talk and exchange exercises or talk about something relating to muscle groups we are trying to strengthen.
Helps change up my workout every so often having these guys there. Never really understood the idea of workout partners. I tried a few in uni and while working, they seem to just bring me down rather than motivate me...

I know one of my old gyms had a bulletin board to post for potential workout partners. Maybe you could try seeing if you could do that sort of thing at your gym if they do have one.
