I've never been before, so it'll be my first time. I don't want to look like an absolute newbie, but don't want to go wearing a complete leather outfit (don't think I could pull it off either - lol). Was thinking of a leather vest, jeans and boots (probably jeans tucked into boots, because I have no boot-cut jeans. Is that done, or is it totally the wrong way to wear 'em?). If anyone has advice on what to wear the first time, or how it is, let me know icon_smile.gif Thanks!

I think jeans tucked into the boots is a faux paus everywhere. icon_wink.gif

What type of boots? What type of jeans?

Also, I'd suggest searching Google Images or Flickr for pics from previous years. It might give you some ideas on how and what to wear.

The leather scene vs fretting over your ensemble. Something doesn't seem to fit.

Never before as rough trade been presented so daintily.

I'm not certain but I heard this year it's ruffles...

LOL. Okay, point taken. The leather scene is hard to get into. Seems you have to know people who want to bring you in.

Re: the boots. If you don't tuck the jeans in, then no one really sees the boots. They just look like black shoes. I thought the point was to see the boots.

Black jeans with something like this:

You can fold the hems up a few times rockabilly style, so that it clears your ankles and the buckles are visible. If you're wearing tight jeans, you can fold/cinch up to top of the boot. But wear black socks of course.

I personally give you my blessing to tuck the jeans into the boots. Go in peace, my child.

I thought the de facto leg wear at Folsom was knee pads?

Have fun. Wish I was going.

But when I was at folsom east in ny this summer, people kind of wore whatever. I wouldn't worry about things like how stylish tucking jeans into boots is going to be. Just go with what looks hottest lol.

For reference my outfit was a leather harness and nastypig sweat-shorts, no undies of course ; )

You'll be perfectly fine with the clothes you describe. Or, frankly.....just about anything else.

While Folsom does cap the San Francisco leather pride week, with its focus on BDSM and leather culture, the event welcomes pretty much anyone with an interest. The more passionate your interest, the more you are likely to "dress up".

Last year I went in a T-shirt and jeans.

Honestly though, OP, go in jeans and a t-shirt. Forget the boots unless they are really broken in and ready for LOTS of walking. Wear layers for the SF weather in case it's windy and foggy.

Careful what you wish for. I've sued for less than breach of promise. And I've got witnesses this time.

Just checked out your profile and that bike pic so reminds me of my past bud. He had one of those huge Harley's with the comfy backseat. I used to love it when he'd take me through the Calif mountains, up to the observatory, where was that, Pasadena? Gorgeous. And then we used to hit this biker hang, out in the middle of nowhere, tons of bikes lined up outside. Really fun. Oh damn, now I just made myself sad.

Hey OP, I think those boots are great. Perfect with that skirt. You're going to look fabulous. You can't go wrong with black you know.

I think a 6'7" dude in a skirt would belong at a different kind of event - lol. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Those boots, I would definitely wear the jeans outside.
(I have been to the Folsom Street Fair a million times).
