Hey guys, I just turned 18 and I am dying to get working out and stuff. I have been lied to many times and steared in the wrong direction. I was even on steriods for a bit. I figured i could trust you guys to help me gain muscle and become a REAL MAN. I dont mind being pushed around, I am just desperate for some advice!
    thanks!

Hm. Muscle is nice. Being fit is nice. Being a REAL MAN has nothing to do with either.

    If you've taken steroids
then you're most likely after the really big muscled look alot of younger guys are into
do yourself a favor...stay away from the 'roids
but you want that kind of body you're going to have to work...and hard

it's going to take some heavy lifting
    and heavy eating

Knowing Balch Springs is not a wealthy area, you may not have the money, but I would suggest hiring a personal trainer to get started. If you can't do that, find a guy at your gym who is about your age with the same goals. Next, start learning all you can about fitness. This site is great for that. I would also recommend "Body for Life," by Bill Phillips. Great book!

    Good luck!

Another book I would add to that, though it sounds like a joke, is "Fitness for Dummies 3rd edition". I recently picked this one up myself when another forum member suggested I get myself educated about fitness and exercise. So far it is really helpful and has shown me stuff I would never have thought of doing (IE: getting a fitness test before I start attempting a workout routine).

I just bought a case of that stuff today. I eat it straight from the can out infront of the gym after my workouts. Holy shit, that stuff is a chick magnet! The girls stop and wink and flirt when I've got the tuna out. Strange. Dudes like it too, they always stop and tell me about what they had for lunch that they shouldn't of. I'd rather discuss dessert, but I'll lend an ear today if it means I maybe can lend a hand (especially a finger) tomorrow. icon_twisted.gif
