BREAKING: "Today, Mitt Romney Lost the Election"

You can mark my prediction now: A secret recording from a closed-door Mitt Romney fundraiser, released today by David Corn at Mother Jones, has killed Mitt Romney's campaign for president.

On the tape, Romney explains that his electoral strategy involves writing off nearly half the country as unmoveable Obama voters. As Romney explains, 47 percent of Americans "believe that they are victims." He laments: "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

So what's the upshot? "My job is not to worry about those people," he says. He also notes, describing President Obama's base, "These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax."

This is an utter disaster for Romney.

Romney already has trouble relating to the public and convincing people he cares about them. Now, he's been caught on video saying that nearly half the country consists of hopeless losers.

Romney has been vigorously denying President Obama's claims that his tax plan would raise taxes on the middle class. Now, he's been caught on video suggesting that "low and middle" income Americans are undertaxed.

(That one is especially problematic given the speculation about what's on Mitt's unreleased pre-2010 tax returns.)

Corn tells us there are more embarrassing moments on segments of the video he hasn't released yet. Romney jokes that he'd be more likely to win the election if he were Hispanic. He makes some awkward comments about whether he was born with a "silver spoon" in his mouth.

But those are survivable. The really disastrous thing is the clip about "victims," and the combination of contempt and pity that Romney shows for anyone who isn't going to vote for him.

Romney is the most opaque presidential nominee since Nixon, and people have been reduced to guessing what his true feelings are. This video provides an answer: He feels that you're a loser. It's not an answer that wins elections.

In the early stages of this election - the Repubs and many in the media peddled the meme that Mitt was really a moderate decent guy who wasn't like the far right extremists in the Repub party who advocate a selfish agenda of anti-middle class policies and racial and class division.

As we've gotten to know Mitt better that meme has been crumbling down piece by piece.
And now this damning info has blown it to hell.

Mitt is the epitome of all the worst most morally offensive qualities of the modern day GOP.
He's exactly the kind of typical Bush-style Repub politician that we don't need in the White House

Quite apart from his bad policies, who could in conscience vote for someone stupid enough to say things like this?

Hopefully, Romney also included the corporate welfare queens in that statement.

"THESE PEOPLE BELIEVE they are entitled to Food; to Healthcare. to You Name It. They feel ENTITLED....."

    'ENTITLED' ???

Mitt is talking about FORTY-SEVEN PERCENT OF HIS COUNTRYMEN.....whom he despises.

But what percentage of these people have sent their sons to war on behalf of this country?

What percentage of Mitt's 5 sons have served in the military? ZERO.

Mitt feels the entitlement of a privileged neocon. He loves wars without any personal sacrifice.

What about the corporations that dont pay taxes? What about those that squirrel away money in off-shore accounts so as not to pay taxes?

I know that, but I was referring to their spin that an Obama victory is assured. The polls are close and using a 2008 turn out model more favorable to the Democrats. Their spin now to energize their base to make ridiculous assertions that the election is a done deal.

Of course not. I don't know what on earth would make you think that, given that I'm easily the most right wingie of the few right ringers here.

Maybe Mitt does not understand how elections work...
Obama won in 2008 by a very large margin. Therefore, to win in 2012, Mitt needs many of those Obama voters to change their allegiance and vote for Mitt instead.

But WHY would any Obama voters now support Mitt when he's on the record calling them irresponsible losers who can't even afford to buy food?
Gee, according to Mitt, I don't pay taxes and hate my life.
    That's news to me.
(I actually pay a much higher tax rate than Mitt has already admitted to, due to his "creative" accounting and offshore tax shelters.)

Mitt is the ultimate 1% candidate, who wants to make the super-rich even richer, but has nothing but hateful disdain for the rest of the country.
Mitt is the most repulsive, hateful presidential candidate in my lifetime.

    ONE VERY BAD SIGN FOR ROMNEY;

On the Right Wing sites I follow, both the number of Pro-Romney and the Anti-Obama comments are WAY DOWN in the last 2 weeks.

Romney has managed to completely dishearten even the fire breathers.

On RedState.com tonight, there are so many 'Romney was not my choice'-posts. THAT would not have been tolerated until very recently.

Even the Far Right HATES MITT !

the stunner is, with 90% of the GOPs core base, Romney (or any republican for that matter) could say those exact things to their face and they'd still go out and vote for him.

Now it seems like most republicans suffer from some kind of self defeating personality disorder, and the D's used to own that, what happened?

To be fair and accurate, Freedom - you were always clearly more aware of Mitt's flaws as a candidate than the more delusional members of the conservaposse.
