"Some security experts have said it would be too cumbersome for many PC users to implement the [security] measures suggested by Microsoft [to prevent attacks by hackers]. Instead they advised Windows users to temporarily switch from Internet Explorer to rival browsers such as Google Inc's Chrome, Mozilla's Firefox or Opera Software ASA's Opera."

I've been using FF for almost 10 years. I cringe every time I have to open IE for something.

LOL! For years I've been trying to tell my parents how shitty IE is compared to Firefox and Chrome. So far all efforts continue to fail despite showing them what other browsers can do icon_evil.gif

Of course this article isn't about a features comparison among browsers, but a specific security hole with IE. Which seems to happen with appalling regularity.

I deleted IE from my computer years ago. There was no reason to keep it.

IE 9 is amazing. I've recently switch from FF but every now and then I need to go back to FF because it has some stored passwords I can't remember.

For parents, do what I did: drag IE to the Recycle Bin, drop a link onto the Desktop for Firefox and rename the icon as Internet. Right-click on it, choose Properties and click the Change Icon button. Pick an icon that looks real internetty. Poof.

Put all their favorite sites bookmarked on Chrome. Delete the IE icon from tw desktop and put Chromes instead. Done

I've always been on a mac for my business and thought how shitty IE was. Worst of the worst.

I don't know why people hate on IE so much, I've never had problems with it. =/

I've straight up refused to go to websites that support only IE browsers. Enjoy your viruses boys! *waves*

I don't know anyone who uses IE except large businesses but even they are starting to use Google Chrome because it's that much better.

IE 9 was a decent update but the sad fact is in the browser market Microsoft are so far behind Google in every respect that I don't think they will ever recover.

FF never worked well for me. even cleaned of any add-ons or applets it ran agonizingly slow. Chrome has been my browser of choice for the last 2 years. As proof of how awesome google is, i offer this screencapture from my gmail account.

I've used FF for years. But as I work on our company's website I have to use IE as well to test/fix compatibility.

Man, I haven't used IE in YEARS. Switched to Opera many years ago, then went to FireFox and stayed with it for several years, and have been on Chrome every since it came out.

I'm using IE 10 on Windows 8. It's not affected by this bug and since IE 10 is the fastest browser, I'll stick with it.

Mind->BLOWN. That's pretty nifty and a little bit scary. I dumped Chrome a long time ago when it was giving me all sorts of hell with plugins and never looked back. It's probably much better now and worth a second look. IE9 is so fast though I'm pretty happy with it at the moment.

Interesting. I live in Germany, didn't hear of this story! icon_confused.gif

I still use IE, luckily I have no problem with it. Safari is my other browser.
