If you had the option of becoming straight

Let's say some magical pill was invented that made you want the vag. Would you want it? Or a way to restart your life but this time, live it as a straight guy? Would you go for it...

Interesting question, and not easy for me to answer. I'm in a long term relationship with my partner, and I cannot imagine us apart, or one of us alone, no matter how much he drives me crazy. Even trying to imagine those things fills me with dread. If oferred this magic cure before my partner and I became close, I would have said yes, wanting at the time to be straight. There's pros and cons on both sides, and the thought of having to deal with
hyper-emotional women makes me glad I don't have to. I bet everyone on this board has a slightly different answer, as each individual's experiences differ.

Thread's been done before, and again, no. There isn't a fucking thing about me that needs changing.

yourname2000 saidWhen I was younger, yes. But now I love being gay. Much of that is because I don't suffer the stress (anymore, in Canada) many do of being vilified just for my sexuality, but regardless: I'm gay and it's taught me much about myself and humanity in general.

I don't think anyone chooses to be gay, but I do think that --more than straights--we gay people have to make a conscious choice to be ourselves, in the face of adversity. I can't overstate how liberating and self-empowering such conviction can be for one's soul. icon_wink.gif

    He no
The straights I went to school with are fucked, old and constantly having to compromise in their choices. I have had the freedom to make my own path. Its not always been easy but at least I dont live in the burbs, stuck with a mortgage, ungrateful children and a wife that doesnt put out.

Yes - two years ago. I almost said a year ago but then I remembered it was exactly a year next week that I got my first look at my first crush. Admittedly, I had one on him before I knew what he looked like. icon_redface.gif

Now, no. Too many experiences too many feelings to throw away. I've already rationalized that it's better this way since I don't have to deal with total cunts screaming.

Yes, or rather, I would like the pill to make me MORE attracted to women as this would give me way more options. I'm not bi, I'm gay, but I am attracted to some women. If I were more attracted to women, I'd likely be married by now and might even have some little ones. That isn't to say I have a problem with my life currently. I just would like to have more options if given the choice. And no, I would not change my race if I had the choice because I already have plenty of options there.

Years ago..I wished for such a pill to exist.

Now...absolutely not. I actually thought about it the other day. I am completely happy with who I am. Plus, at my age as a straight man, I would feel the pressure to settle down and find a wife and have kids. As a gay man, it is more likely to live "outside the norm" so I can instead live a fun life of doing whatever I please. There are so many aspects of my life right now that make me extremely happy. So I could never change it.

idk, I dated women all through high school and college (when i really had no idea, or was just so in denial about it), and they are crazy self centered! I have never dated or been with a girl that doesnt make me cringe...

    No.
I fear my life would be boring and filled with the drudgery of children and family instead of friends, lovers, vacations and art.

Sometimes i entertain the idea that my life would have been so much easier if i were straight, but i wouldn't be the same person i am today. I would honestly hate it if the parallel universe straight me were ignorant, close-minded, or homophobic.

I think growing up with the challenges i faced made me a much more well-rounded and open person (as sappy as that might seem)

I've been asked this question a billion times. Seriously, I counted. I feel there should be a prize for you being the billionth asker, but I've been lax. Apologies.

My answer is a resounding no. I am very happy with my life, my boyfriend, and how things are going. However, had you asked me 5 years ago, I likely would have said yes. Coming out and adjusting seemed like quite the mountain back then.

No. Not even for a larger pool of potential dates, I wouldn't.

Trollileo saidI'm torn now. A few months ago I would have said yes, but now I realize that being gay has brought me to know a lot of amazing people I never would have acquainted myself with had I been straight.

Wait, you're gay by association? icon_neutral.gificon_question.gif
