wow ... some people in this country have some serious mental problems, how can people be filled with so much hate ... I blame it on ignorance ... but really what can you .. it's a chair hung in a tree ... that's not illegal. Unfortunately, their neighbors are probably just like them and if their not ... well, they are definitely not making any friends. And while lynchings in the south were prevalent, it is not strictly a race thing. This was the way of the old west that carried forward even to today by hateful mean individuals. There are plenty of white effigies where a dummy is made to look like someone and is strung up and burned as part of protests and yes between school rivalries.

Someone should sneak up on that chair and slap a big Romney face sticker on it. I bet that would get the chair down quickly.

Some people on other sites are citing "free speech."
But, many types of speech are not allowed by law.
    Examples:
--Falsely yelling, "Fire!", in a crowded theater.
    --Slander
    --Hate Speech

It's my opinion that this is clearly "Hate Speech," since it is crystal clear that the homeowner is advocating lynching the black President of the United States. (It actually took me a few minutes to realize that this was in reference to Clint Eastwood and his empty chair)

However, I expect the President and the Justice Department to just write this off as one of the idiotic 47% who will be voting for Romney.

This sort of thing comes from both sides and is nothing new. Poor taste doesn't favor either party...

"The mayor of West Hollywood has condemned a Halloween display resembling Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin hanging by a noose."

If a very unconvincing 6'2" drag version of Palin can be said to 'resemble' her, then I suppose it does.

In any case, the implied lynching of a black person has all sorts of sinister historical connotations that the Halloween lynching of a figurative white person simply does not.

Lynching an effigy of a white woman would have the same effect as calling me (a white person) a nigger.

    Fool.
