Seriously. WTF is up with that? And to be honest, it's mostly the older set that does it. I just don't understand in what world would they consider themselves muscular.........icon_neutral.gif

Probably because it soundsound better than fat. I don't even know why they have build descriptions anywhere you can post a pic. I don't know what id call myself but there are pictures to answer anyone question.

Eh, well, everyone defines things differently apparently. There's no set or defined standard. In general though, most people agree that being muscular means having muscles that can be seen visibly. Why fat(ter) people claim themselves as being "muscular" in spite no solid definition is a mystery to me too. :3

My muscles are solid and carefully protected by a cushy layer, especially my abs. The older I get, the more protection they need from those guys that just want to run their hands all over them.

Muscular means you have big muscles, it's unrelated to how ripped or fat you are.

And I just don't understand in what world would you consider yourself muscular.

Lol, those pictures are great. (Though the artist in me feels the need to point out the second is obviously a fake picture)
I'm not sure about all of them, but there are some men I have seen that say "muscular" but look like they are out of shape. The only quality that makes them "muscular" is their arms and maybe chest. The people you're talking about may think along the same line. (My arms are muscluar, so thats what I'll put, etc.) Online profiles are all about picking the best and trying to make the worst better.

I've seen this a couple times but like another user said, I think it's because they think it sounds better then fat. I do think some fat guys can be quite strong but I don't know if muscular is the right word to use for it? But if they are talking about primarily aesthetic, I don't know why they do it but you just have to not think too much about it.

Here a couple of weeks ago, I was at the lat pulldown machine and a fat dude basically tried to cut in.. probably weighed 300 easy and was serving as "knowledgable" to a newby with the machine. After I finished, I commented about the effort that I spent.. the fat dude said, "your toned, when I was just toned, thats what I would do as well, I've changed my goals and I'm into being muscular now". I just stared and almost started laughing. I noticed he adjusted the weight....downward as he started in with the tuitorial with his "student". I always laugh to myself whenever I see the dude now.....

^That. You can't do anything about the first part, but you can certainly do something about the second part.

The problem is that most guys can't agree on the definitions. When I registered for RJ I was a bit stumped myself. I describe myself as "slim" but what the heck is "Defined"? I have relatively low body fat so everyone can see my abs but does that make me "Defined"? Some of the other descriptions are equally puzzling: Beefy vs Stocky, Athletic vs Defined, etc.

I always thought muscular guys with low body fat were simply "muscular" but muscles+fat is "beefy", while "stocky" simply describes most middle-age guys who are not on this web site. I guess it all depends on your own view point.

For the same reason everyone online claims to have an 8 inch cock, to seem more appealing.

I'm a skinny guy and tell people I'm skinny. Does that mean I'm doing something wrong and I should start telling people I'm 6 foot and ripped from here on out?
