Obviously referring to the church/carlton one. I got sushi from the canteen, ate there at the tables and had the barcode on the empty box scanned along with my groceries when I left. What if I just threw away the box at some point? It looks like something anyone can so easily get away with!

What the fuck? The one that opened recently? I shop and live down the street from there. You immature bastard - don't steal food.

    I won't lie.
I eat candy bars as I walk around the grocery store without paying for them.

Grocery stores actually have the narrowest of profit margins, at about approximately 3%.

You shouldn't steal food if you can afford it. But if you can't, I say go for it if you're in a Loblaw's, especially since the CEO is Galen Weston Jr. and the dude a Canadian billionaire and inherited it all from his father. He also came down hard last spring on saying that food at Farmer's Markets that's locally grown can pose a health hazard to consumers -- when coincidentally the opposite is true, and his stores are a huge source of food hazards, including the Loblaw's closest to my house where... wait for it.. people needed to be evacuated because of a chemical leak.

Also on the George Weston Ltd. places-where-it's-okay-to-steal-if-you're-starving list:
    + No Frills
    + Valu-Mart
    + Real Canadian Superstore

    Bon appetit!

So you'll steal...but you won't lie? icon_confused.gif I'd suggest you shake that up a bit....either steal AND lie about it, or better yet do neither. icon_wink.gif[quote]

I only do it when I'm REALLY stocking up on food- Complimentary snicker bars should be handed out for all the overpriced food they got up in there. If I'm already spending $100+ on food, is that one chocolate bar i stole gonna feed world? All the perfectly good food in grocery stores and restaurants that is thrown away sure can.
Besides, the foods in there are are injected with LIES and hormones! icon_lol.gif

you guys are crazy. it was just an observation about how unusually easy it would be to steal. It's just weird, like a hypothetical food court where you go back to the counter to pay after you finish eating... or else!

OK, you guys need to read what the OP has said. He did NOT steal any food. Read the post before you level inaccurate insults on the OP.

Now the other guy is fair game. If everyone that shopped, stole a candy bar, prices would be raised to cover the losses....everyone loses!

It happens all the time. I walk through the grocery stores and see empty personal sized ice cream containers, empty pop cans, candy wrappers. See people even put their hands in the olive/antipasto bar or bulk food section, grab a few, and eat them right there and then. Just remember, on the latter, that if you're doing it, homeless people can do it too.

Boy, I must be a naif. I remember being shocked speechless once when I saw a woman casually pop a grape in her mouth while shopping. I had no idea more than a few people think casually browsing in a grocery store (!) without paying for it is OK.

edit: I'm not sure what surprises me more: people who browse in a grocery store or people who casually admit to it, lol.

Why would someone steal (eat) the food in the grocery store? My mind boggles.

Same. Do they really feel such a strong sense of entitlement?

This is one of those situations where all I can think to say is "I'm speechless"... even though by replying I am proving myself wrong... I think you get my point.

even when im at the bodega I'll grab something to eat or a 1/4 water or whatever. I'll open it and start to chow down before I get to the front. I'll pay and leave. force of habit.

That's not what you said above:

Justifying stealing is lame. A serious lack of integrity.
