Freaking B.S. Equal Rights should never be put up for a vote. It should just happen because it is what is right. African Americans were not freed because of a vote, women didn't get the right to vote because of a vote and neither should gay marriage.

Sad to hear its nearly a tie in Minnesota poles right now (with around 5% not sure, which usually means they will vote against equal rights). Blah

I've never voted in the past, but I'll be making my trip to vote no in MN icon_smile.gif

*edit* Since someone PM'd me, in MN voting No is for pro-gay marriage. They are trying to ban gay marriage even though it's not even legal here.

The legislature passed in in Washington. Then the right wing got their tail in a twist and started the whole recall thing.

    Someone gets it.

Whether it wins or loses, this is not even an issue that should be voted on. Since when do Americans vote on the freedom and equality of other Americans.

Probably it is time to have public referendums on all these narrow minded, bible thumping screwballs whether or not they should be permitted to push their extremist, right wing views upon everyone else. I hope that gay marriage wins overwhelmingly at the polls not only in Washington but also in Maine, Maryland, and Minnesota.

Exactly right. How many minority-rights questions would LOSE if put to a vote in certain areas? That's why we have a Bill of Rights that is supposed to protect the minorities from the majority.

None of the provinces voted on gay marriage, it was all determined by the courts. However, the House of Commons did vote to make gay marriage countrywide.

When gays learn how to behave and stop being a disgrace then marriage can come on the table

That's why winning the gay marriage vote in Washington would be extra sweet.
It would be a kick in the teeth to the fucking religious right Repubs who have been trying to deny full marriage equality to gay Americans - in WA and from coast to coast.
