Just got one and love it.

If you're not on a good LTE network it doesn't seem that much better than a 4s in function, but in a class of it's own in form... I guess that's Apple's thing but I'm a sucker for it.

I really like the hardware but I'm bored of iOS and its limitations.

I have found in the LA area the LTE networks for both AT&T and Verizon are quite good. I've used my iPad "3" on the AT&T LTE and also Verizon LTE (using a hot spot) and now the iPhone5. I'm sure it can depend on the exact location, but for me both have been good.

still waiting for mine. My best friend upgraded from the 4S and he is telling me the 5 is a lot faster performance wise, LTE speeds are also pretty insane. Cant wait to get mine.

Not anytime soon. My 4s got stolen and I got a 3gs as a replacement. Everyone's upgrading to the 5 while I downgraded to the 3gs. I'm bitter about iticon_cry.gif

I plan to upgrade in October or early November, depending on availability, as I've done before. Will make a color choice at the local Apple store just 2-1/2 miles away, may just pedal the bike over as I've done before. Then may buy it there, too, since I don't see a free engraving option like I got with my iPad for online purchase only.

I just checked online, and my partner's older 4 is eligible for an upgrade price, but my newer 4S is about double the cost. Now the trick will be to see if I upgrade his 4, which would put his existing phone number on the 5, can I later swap the numbers of the 2 phones, making the 5 have my number, and the 4S his number?

We've sort of done that before, but it was when we upgraded my 4 to the 4S, and transferred his 3GS account to my 4. I'll phone Apple and ask them if this scheme would be permitted with the 5 and 4S. Does anyone know if the SIM cards are the same for those 2 phones, so I could do it myself? And whether AT&T would notice a discrepancy in the phone internal ID numbers?

Given his bad track record with cell phones he's been getting my old phone while I get the new. He's done things like sending one through the washing machine, losing another to theft, and destroying yet a third, plus not making use of most of the iPhone features. I also keep an unused phone on hand as back-up, ready to reactivate with his number in minutes if his kills another phone, as I've had to do once already.

I think iPhone 5 uses a new sim card called the ''nano sim card'' So I'm not sure if you can transfer the numbers between an iPhone 4S and iPhone 5

Well then the Apple or AT&T stores should be able to do it, I've had them swap phones with dissimilar SIM cards before. They have readers for all the cards and can move the data from one type of card to another. They'd have to do that if I did the more typical upgrade of my 4S to the 5.

In fact, when I got the 4 it was purchased online with home delivery. I activated it and swapped it with my 3GS account myself, with both phones alternately plugged into iTunes on my iMac, as I recall. I didn't have to go to any store. The program did all the work for me online, I didn't touch a SIM card, it even deactivated the 3GS.

Funny you mention it, back when the iPhone 4 first came out, and people had to use a micro-sim card. I searched some youtube tutorials on how to cut the normal sized sim card to a micro sized sim card and still make it work with all the contacts and data still being intact icon_wink.gif

    Those were times.

Ahh the joys of small-town living! My partner & I walked in to local AT&T store yesterday and in 10 mins walked out with the new 64gig iPhone 5!
(other states had waiting lines, I hear.)
His friend, a doctor who has to have the latest gadgetry, went online and ORDERED his the day they were available.....and is still waiting.

I just loaded iOS 6 onto my iPad "3" and don't see ANY difference. Additionally, if I were to buy it, I'd lose screen size from my Galaxy Nexus. So, not sure what the big deal is all about.
