It seems like every time someone says something homophobic around me with a group of people they look at me retract their statement saying, 'Not that I have anything against gay people.' I have also been told around people on campus that I come across as a tough gay or intimidating.

I am very proud that I give that vibe off however I always wanted to be a person who everyone would know that I will love and respect you for any belief and ideals that you have. IDK I cannot really change me but at least im helping the homophobia problem somewhat! lol

I was a bully when I went back to study for a while.

I'd call everyone of the bullshit gay comments. Eventulaly people stopped. Either they realised what they were doing or just got sick of dealing with me

I love that little shudder of fear in their eyes when I glare at them for being so ignorant in my presence. ♥

When I hear the word faggot in a conversation, I look for an escape route and look for a weapon.I grew up in a place where it was OK to kill a guy if he was gay. The last words a gay guys here before he gets beaten to a pulp and is tied to fence and left die are "Hey faggot."

yourname2000 saidI was in a store last month and a couple of 20yos were saying "gay" to everything...."man that shirt is gay" "that's the gayest coat I've ever seen" etc, etc. Even in the change room (that they BOTH went into together icon_eek.gif ) they continued: "that makes you look gay". So I leaned over my doorway as they were leaving and shouted at them "what's with all the 'gay' 'gay' 'gay'? --there are gay people around." They shutup so quick....and when I came out, they were skulking out of the store. icon_rolleyes.gif

I live in a free country where we are equal, and I'm 6'4" and can take care of myself....I figure if anyone is gonna call these idiots out, it might as well be me. icon_twisted.gif

Did you think maybe they were trying to cover? Next time say, "It so nice to see two such fine looking young men so open about their sexuality ... have you been lovers long?" icon_lol.gif

You're a fucking moron for trying to love and respect anyone for whatever beliefs they might have. In that case, why don't you go and kiss Hitler's ass?

I wasn't a bully in high school, but people always got quiet when ever I entered the room or got up from my chair. THey didn't know I was gay, but I think they held there tounge, regaurdless of the situation or topic.

I played ball, but I don't think thats enough to silence a people.

You shouldjust be calm and collected and say "whatever, dude, just say whatever you want. it's a free country..." thats how I always loosened tension when in high school.

It doesn't count unless you make breeders force themselves to pretend to be gay in order to avoid your merciless persecution.

OP they'll just wait till you leave and talk behind your back anyway!
    Try a more diplomatic approach...

..It's good to hear what's on people's minds sometimes..then you'll be able to challenge their way of thinking..that's where real change comes in..

That would be a better way to "help the homophobia problem."

FlexandJack..as posted above.."challenge his way of thinking".

Reminds me of a problem I had with a friend a few months back. We were walking along a cliff with a re friends, literally, (the palisade cliffs) and I was pretty sure he found out I was gay through a mutual connection, and he kept using the word faggot, with some type of glare in his eye. I let it slide a few more time until he went overboard and I threaten to push him over the edge and shoved him 2,3,4 times. I was screwing like a maniac calling him out on abcxyz. My brother had my back (who was there) and the other friend jut sat there and let it happen.

I never lost my temper like that, ever. It made us closer tho.

I remember the story behind that gif. I think they had been bullying the big guy for a while and that little shit finally got what was coming to him. Awesome body slam (note the girl's momentary wince as the kid impacts).

I use to come off the same way with Homophobia aswell as racism.

It's a sad reality but when people don't walk in your shoes they don't get why "so serious" it's easy to get a rep as someone with a bad attitude, bitch, etc. when in reality you are just trying to stand up for yourself and/or educate people on a subject.

However, I have learned and perfected the art of speaking out but being kind as well. Just work on that.

Really?! Respect someone for ANY belief and ideals? That's ridiculous; you need to reconsider that stance.
