In a move that stinks of the kind of corporate cluelessness and self-entitlement that helped crash our economy - Mitt Romney gave big bonuses to the top staffers in the Romney campaign.

Mitt doesn't care about half the country - but clearly Mitt cares about those at the top.

How could Mittens think that the people running the train wreck Romney campaign deserve big bonuses?
Bonuses should be for good performance - not incompetence.

America cannot succeed and thrive when shitty performance gets rewarded.

Romney's warped view that work done by people at the top should be rewarded - regardless of competence or fairness or results - is exactly what's wrong with today's corporate vulture culture.

Good point. Pawlenty has already jumped ship for a posh lobbying job. So, you point has foundation already.

I've seen that when an office is going to close and the staff realize that their jobs are going to end....so they start to apply to for other roles. The company will often offer bonuses for staff just to stay on until the end (since they really need staff to close it all up.)

This strikes me as the same....it's almost like Romney himself sees the writing on the wall: it's over....top aides want to move to other campaigns/private roles, and he needs to sweeten the pot to entice them not to do so yet.

No one wants to be associated with this campaign....this isn't going to end up on those guys' resumes. Like George W being banned from the GOP convention this year, by next election, no one will ever admit to having been a part of it...."Mitt who??" icon_confused.gificon_eek.gif

You may very well be correct.
It's another stupid tone-deaf move from Mittens - but if it's to prevent the horrible PR problem that a mass exodus of staffers would create - it may be the lesser of two evils.

Perhaps he is throwing some money at rats who were about to desert the sinking ship Romney.
