I'm also re-dedicating to dropping a bunch of weight. The bf likes "beefy", but right now, I've got more flab than beef. I'm currently at 227#.

Several years back, I went from 240# to 175#, and I have to say that at 175, I looked emaciated. I'm on the CORE plan with Weight Watchers, which really is good science. If I hadn't started going out 3-4 times a week (ie, drinking like a fish) and eating out all the time, I would have kept it off. So the CORE plan is basically lean meats, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and low sugar. Eat when you start to get hungry, usually fresh fruit for snacks to take the edge off.

In addition, I've started walking 3 to 4 miles a day with my dog (outside, not on a treadmill--I like to watch the folks running the opposite direction too, even for a fleeting glance). One thing I've never done is weightlifting, but I do want to add weights to my plan. Anyone have really basic, simple weight-training book or website they'd recommend for a *true* beginner?

Amazing job, Chasers! You're an inspiration!

congrats! Keep it up. The last time I was slacking off at the gym I actually thought of these posts you've been putting up and pushed it. Very inspirational.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. It hasn't been easy, and probably never will be. At one time in my life I would have thrown in the towel long ago. This time, though, I have the tools I need to get me through it.
