Season 5 of true blood was utter garbage compared to the incredible Maenad MaryAnn Forester. Who was your favorite villain?

Are there really any other options that aren't absolutely fucktarded?

Bill/Lillith/Blillith is fucking stupid. The witch was like 1000 times worse. Russell was so annoying.

Mary Ann has been the only good one.

Billith is beyond disappointing. Russel had his funny moments but in the end he was lackluster. The witch Antonia I liked but MaryAnn destroys them all.

I agree. Claude was not what I expected, a twink instead of a gorgeous, muscled fae man. We will always have Godric.

Seriously, I was so excited for Claude...he's an arrogant asshole with the body of a Greek God...and then they give us that mousy boy....still cute but not what I wanted or expected!

It was a fail but his role is so minor I overlooked it. I heard Allan Ball is leaving as a writer, if so that's a good thing. The writing has slipped in the last two seasons.

I think Marnie was a good villain, mostly because she seemed so innocent but then eventually was the big bad for sure!

Season 2 is still my favorite, despite my adoration for the now useless Alcide. The Fellowship of the Sun and Mary Ann were good storylines that made sense. Since then, with Russell and the Authority stuff...the show has gone too beyond Bon Tomps. Worse, Billith is just stupid.

Russell was my fave True Blood villain and I thought it was such a cop out how they got rid of him. He deserved better.

Maryann gets my vote for 2nd best and worst goes to Marnie ( although to be fair that whole season was pretty shit).

there has not been anyone to rival with Mary Ann in greatness, but when it comes to influence, each of them is tied... well except for season 1.

    (think about it)

Mary Ann took over the city's populace for a ritual
Russel Edgington is a psychopath with a position of power
Steve Newlon was a fire and brimstone kind of anti-vampire preacher
Marnie/Antonia was a Grudging Wiccan Witch
Bill is an evil religious man

I still like Mary Ann the most.

It's funny, after five seasons, I've concluded that Sam the barkeep is actually the male hero of the series, and by far the best-bet as a romantic interest.

Bon Temps would've been lost to the Maenad's sway at the end of the second series if not for his intervention -- a theme that reoccurs each year.

    Sam Merlotte is Manimal.

I agree... Season 2 was the best and Mary Ann was the shit. I even sat through 2 longgggggg seasons of AMC's The Killing , just to see more of the amazing Michelle Forbes.

MaryAnn (Callisto) in the books cannot be killed! I was so irate when Sam took her heart out, arrgh! icon_evil.gif Russel is an idiot, so much power yet he does nothing but kill a few humans! Hello, take over the damn country.

Michelle Forbes (Mary Ann) was also pretty cool as a pathologist on "Homicide: Life on the Street." icon_cool.gif

Maryann was probably my favorite villain too. Michelle Forbes is an incredible actress--I loved her in Battlestar Galactica.

I liked Russel because he was shockingly violent and just as crazy.

And I love Sam. He has some incredible...attributes. icon_wink.gif

    Honestly
I liked every season except for this last one
The dialogue was so boring and really nothing happened
Very little sex and the biggest disappointment was Russelll
And Steve (gay vampires) drain and kill a frat house filled with college boys )
They could have shown that happening
it could have been both hot and terrifying
Alll we got to see was a few dead bloody bodies
    Totally sucked
I couldn't wait for this season to end
Not sure if I will bother watching next season

The monsters are great and all, but it's the politics of the show that's the driving force.

    indeed.

*important point* sorry, a bit more to add onto Bill from my earlier point. "Manipulative and calculating" evil religious man. There, important points added. If it were not for him sharing his blood with Sookie in the beginning, then there would be no attraction (by the blood).
