...I've been using as crappy phone with no Android for 2 years, but now my contract got upgrades and copped that Samsung GaluxseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesS3.

Compared to adam4adam I'm happy that I'm getting tons of responses now. I was on adam feeling like what the hell is wrong with me because I'd go days with no responses, and when I did from people I didn't like.

But just today I had like a dozen replies from guys just in my neighborhood. I was happy, but a bit jaded because seems like all the guys are looking for No-strings and hookups. And then guys saying they are partnered. And really I didn't get message from anyone I was interested in meeting. I don't want to get all addicted and start hooking up because I thought I was going to be in a relationship but the person just wasn't stable enough in more ways than 1 to do so, so we just remained friends but then I decided I needed to start dating again.

How succesful is the site for more than just hookups? My 1st reply today from a guy across the street wanting to meet and suck my dick. I was almost about to do it, but it's not what I'm looking for. In addition, it's so friggin time-consuming. I'm so used to using my laptop, and trying to type. Plus the whole conveyor belt way of meeting guys. Short sentences, easy-no challenge hookups...can't imagine it'll improve my dating life that much, but I'm being optimistic.

Grindr, a4a, manhunt, CL...all for hookups.

    And that's why I like them. icon_biggrin.gif

Those are all hookup sites, I don't know of anyone who's met a BF or partner on those sites, not saying it doesn't happen though. Try local gay social groups outside of the bar, baseball softball, running groups etc.. Good luck!

At first, you are new meat and you will get a million hits.

It works that way when you visit a city and suddenly show up in the screens of guys there. HA!

You must exercise strict self-discipline when using Grindr and similar apps. If you don't have self-discpline and you're relatively physically attractive, you will be having sex every hour with different people.

This. At first, it's a free-for-all. You're the 'new meat' on the block. Enjoy it while it lasts because after you've gone thru your share of hookups, the responses dry up considerable. I used to live right-smack in the 'gay-borhood' in Baltimore, MD, but after prolonged used of Grinder and other similar apps, the responses just dried up. I got tired of looking at all the same faces of guys I was either not attracted to, or they weren't attracted to me. I would see many of these guys on the local bars and we would all ignore each other. Some of friends who still use the apps block everyone local that they're not interested in so they can spot new prospects. Don't believe any Grindr profile that says guys are looking for friends--let's face it, it all starts with sex. (The majority of gay friends I've now are guys I hooked up with at some point in the past but the relationship didn't pan out.)

It's possible to start a relationship thru Grindr and the like, but it's very, very tricky. You better learn to be damn patient.

I'm currently taking a break from all the apps. Just a bit burned out on men in general. I moved to Williamsburg, NYC, and Grindr/Skruff doesn't work much for me here--I got tired of the hipster gays in a matter of weeks.

-2.4. I'm usually blocking more people than talking, or I did when I had it. +D

Joining a hookup site and complaining that all the guys want to do is hookup is a lesson in futility.

What's funny about that is Grindr wasn't designed for hook-up. It was designed to be a social network for people to meet and talk. It just became a hook-up place because it seems (gay/bi/curious) men seem to take the whore with them no matter where they go. icon_biggrin.gif That's the first thing on their mind when talking to other people like them.

    'Brah'-voice:
"So uh... wanna see my dick?" "Do you like... wanna suck my cock?" "Can I like... fuck you?"

    Fun fun times. :3 *dance*

A quick conversation with the completely gross and slutty founder of Grindr (I've had more than one) will disabuse you of this notion.

Trust me: he designed it for hookups.

I'm not interested in 95% of the guys on any of these apps, so I gave up on them.

Anything more than 34.8 may be excessive.

Is he gross because he's so slutty, or is it just an unhappy coincidence? icon_wink.gif

your new, young, well built, possibly attractive.

You'll be getting hit up until you've told everyone with the balls to say hello, no or you sleep with everyone... then there will be silence

Btw..I've seen your threads..from what i gather you are relationship oriented..not into flakey guys..and very frustrated by the gay dating scene..??

There is a good chance this app will cause you some headache..

It's slutty in that "I have no standards" way that's completely icky. I felt like I needed to shower from just speaking.

Grindr is the worst, I'll admit I'm tempted to use to sometimes or like to when I'm in a new area, but then I learn the lesson again.
