It depends on the tattoo, really.
Tattoos in general I'm not a fan of, but some of them can look quite nice, particularly the tribal ones that wrap around the shoulder onto the chest. (a la bigSETXjock)

Think hard on what you want, make sure it's significant to you on multiple levels, because it's really not that easy to remove if you don't like it.

All that said, if the tattoo suits the person, it's good, if it doesn't seem to suit them, it's a bit of a turnoff.

Think very hard about whether you're going to want to be sporting a picture of Spongebob on your body when you're 60 years old.

You have to be careful when you put something that is so permanent on your body
    Yes.... some tattoo's are hot
but they need to mean something to you and be something you can live with for the rest of your life

Tattoos can be hot but you really need to think about them afterall they are permanent. The whole laser removal is total bull crap.

I have a friend during highschool that had 'no regrets' tattooed on his stomach then he discovered beer. Guess what happened next.

Depends on the guy, the tattoo and the placement for me. A too small tattoo on a large area can look a bit silly. I do prefer it when it seems like something personal and not just the fad of the moment.

A tattoo can add extra hotness to a guy who is already hot. icon_cool.gif It can't make a guy hot if he isn't.

Well, since you asked: no. I don't like tatoos. I've never seen one that I thought made someone look more attractive. There are a small number which I think are neutral, but honestly, most of them are turn offs to me.

BUT, if you've really thought it through, and can be sure you'll still want in 30 years from now when your body proportions change, then go for it. It's your body after all.

I might suggest NOT getting a tattoo because OTHER people think it's hot. Most likely those other people aren't going to be around in 20 years when you still have that tatt.

Only get one if it's significant to you and YOU think it's hot. Mine was drawn by an tattoo artist friend and I can't imagine ever NOT wanting it there...but it's really only significant to me and I didn't get it because of anyone else. I did get it with my best friend at the time...we both got one. It was a good bonding experience...but even so, he moved away and I haven't spoken to him in years. That just illustrates the point that the guy who thinks its hot now...isn't gonna be around forever...

I have four and will most likely get one or two more but get something you like and want because you will be the one looking at it for the rest of your life icon_biggrin.gif

This is good advice. There are always going to be guys who like them and guys who don't. It's a personal choice, do it for yourself. I thought about mine for 2 years before I got it and have been considering another one for 5 years. The one I do have is symbolic of "positive energy" and something I hope is representative of me. While I need to get an appointment to get it touched up again, I can't remember any day regretting getting it.

    I love tattoo's since I was a kid!

I like em BIG! cant stand small ones.

Is a tattoo good to have? I think tattoos are great to have however, this does not mean that people aren't going to judge because of your tattoos all though, tattoos are being more accepted now in days.

I think it also has to do with what kind of tattoo are you getting and where are you getting it.

I definetly want another but not rushing into it and I have 1 tattoo of a Lion on my rib cage (from underneath arm pit to my bottom icon_biggrin.gif.

It's all in the eye of the beholder of course!

I personally find them a complete turnoff because (whether fair or not) I tend to view the guy as more of a club kid partier type which is not what I'm attracted to.

But many guys find them extremely hot.

Just ask for yourself before getting one:

    1) Are you confident you'll love it 6 months from now? What about a couple years from now? What about 20 years from now? What about when you're a grandfather? icon_razz.gif

    2) Will its placement be visible such that it may interfere with or limit your options in employment?

Just depends on the guy and where the tat is located. I have seen some that are totally hot and others, where I have wanted to ask “where you drunk?”

I have a Celtic knot in the shape of a triangle on my upper back, between my shoulder blades, which represents change. Originally I was going to put it on my right shoulder but a good friend at the last minute said it would fit better between the shoulder blades.

For me, my tat is personal as a reminder that life is in constant change.

Living in Boston and going to a gym in the business district, I am constantly surprised at the number of people who have tats, I would say a good 40% at least.

really... when i see someone WITH OUT a tattoo i wonder what the hell is wrong with them. There is no better to show that you indeed own your body, than by marking it up with ink and scars for the rest of your life (unless you get burnt up)

::i have SUCH a way of selling it dont i?::
