The anti-equality arguments get more and more ridiculous. They are grasping at anything because they are starting to lose the debate.

I was going to mention that Jews are a smaller percentage, but I saw the article mentioned that already.

So hard to please these "Christians" nowadays (note the ironic quotes, real Christians). So offended by promiscuity, yet enraged by those who reject promiscuity. Is cognitive dissonance inborn, and should we offer protections to those who are born that way?

Yes it's a fallacy for the Christian Institute to cite numbers as a basis for backing up their agenda in the way that they do. Especially when religiosity is in such decline and church attendance is so low, I think approaching 8% in the UK last I heard. I am open to be corrected on this.

If 1.5% of men, 0.7% of women, and 0.4% of each gender were to describe themselves as homo or bi sexual, this does not amount to "2.6% of people". Rather it would amount to 1.5% of people when you factor in that only half of people are male and half are female. However, I think it's easy to understand why some gay/bi people would answer no homo to the survey in question so the true proportion of gay/bi people is to be more than 1.5%.

Anyway the point of the article easily remains despite the statistical error and I find it quite reassuring that their argument is a complete shambles.

These people are not Christian enough to make this a valid argument.

Who cares the gays and bis of the UK already have civil Unions, and changing the term the the oxymoron one of gay marriage, will change little; so who cares and why bother.

    "Who cares"?

Its because there is an increasing religious back lash against gay and LGBTQ rights from the Evangelical Christians - inspired by their US cousins - in Britain over the last two years. I've been going to Canal Street in Manchester for years and we've never had, in my memory, the religious nut jobs picketting it. We do now. I was even stopped in the street by some religious lunatic who said I was going to hell for my hairstyle (a very long mohawk) because Gays, Goths, Punks, Satanists are all the same thing and we're leading an immoral anti Christian lifestyle and "have to be stopped." before we destroy society, and ourselves.

At work a Salvation Army chappy said there is no such thing as Homophobia.

At organisations such as Churches Together (ecumencial organisation) Im finding that a lot of what Id have thought of as mainstream denominations (URC, Methodfist, low-Church Anglicans) are going Evangelical Literalist happy-clappy where they used to be quite middle of the road and with imported American or South African ministers.....

We even have one or two of these loons outside my church on a Sunday during the time of our service picketing saying we're not Chrisitan, we're promoting Sin, we Hate the Family all because we are pro-Gay (hellooo I go and minister there).

    Go figure.
