Personally I like hairy guys, and if they don't at least trimmed. As long as your trimmed hair doesn't grate like a cheese grater.

I say just trim it...nothing hotter than a guy with a hair chest/body. Now, if it's on your entire body (shoulders, entire back, etc) that's a different story, but I still wouldn't say no to a guy because of it. But it's really up to you and what you want.

And I know this is off topic...and frankly what you do with your life is your business, but advertising that you're cheating on your wife...eh, not so cool.

I've been shaving chest/back and trimming cock/balls/ass once per week since I was 16. Once you get on a regular schedule with it, your skin will adapt much like your face does. I never get any irritation anymore, but initally Gold Bond Lotion was great for that.

There is nothing quite so yummy as a smooth, shaved hole... good eatin' there!

Where are you trying to get rid of all of this hair?
If it's your back and shoulders, i guess I can see why this bugs you. Try getting a sugar wax.

From your picture, your chest and stomach looks fine. Keep it trimmed if it bugs you I think it looks hot. Waxing all that area surely would hurt.

If you are like me and the hair is mostly on your legs and arms, I'm not sure I get it. Guys have hair. Tame it if you must... but embrace it. Nothing like feeling the short hairs on a muscled leg in the heat of the moment.

And, If you want your privates bald... do as BigSE suggested and just shave... I'm not sure you want wax or electrodes down there.

Altho hygiene is uber important naturally, aren't guys supposed to have hair? In certain places, the more the better?

These days, every shaved/smooth magazine/beach/gym body is a carbon copy clone of the last. It's ordinary. Hair, on the other hand, such as the pattern guys have on their chest, tummy, happy trail, bush, whatever, gives each guy character and makes him more "real" and individual.

Personally, I hate the stubble look anywhere below the neck. Hairy legs are mandatory for any guy I'd ever consider dating. A guy who trims (or worse, shaves) "down there" is just so plain wrong I can't deal with it: First, it violates my natural instinct/attraction for the guy because even though I know he's an adult it sends the message of pedophilia to the brain in such a way to cause me revulsion. Second, if the guy is trying to make his member look bigger by trimming back hair, get over it!

What's hotter? The same 'ol gym jock or Chris Evans' natural body hair patterns?

Now, if you've got hair that hit your shoulders or back or whatever, then yeah, deal with it. I had some on my shoulders that bugged me (even though my ex said he didn't mind it) because it was in what I considered an "atypical" location, and so I had it lasered off.. And it's never came back. But if the excruciating pain of laser or electrolysis isn't your thing, then just get waxes or something (I've never had a wax so dunno how those compare).

Electrolysis really isn't that expensive in the long run especially when you consider the cumulative money spent on waxing and other hair removal over the years. I am naturally smooth but if I weren't, I would definitely just go the laser route.

You haven't told us where you're trying to remove hair. However, you should look into laser hair removal. It is as close to "permanent" as you can get, and if effective, the upfront cost will outweight the long-term spending on other methods. Note that darker hair is more responsive to most lasers, and that (depending on the region) they may offer to apply a topical anaesthetic to help with the pain (it can feel like someone snapping an elastic band on your skin). It will probably also be more economical to purchase a package than to pay for each individual treatment (plus most places will do a test patch to determine how effective it is on you before proceeding). Just make sure you go to a reputable establishment.

Wrong. If you're gay it's likely because you're naturally (read: instinctively) attracted to men. Technically, women are "supposed to be hairy" in certain places too. I don't personally find hair on women anywhere below the neck to be attractive, but technically they're "supposed to be".

Also, I never implied he shouldn't remove every last hair on his body LOL.. it's his choice as you pointed out. Figured that was obvious The opinion part of my post was just that: an opinion and statement as to what I'm personally attracted to. But some guys are attracted to hairless guys, boys, or bald hamsters. To each his own of course.

Not really wrong. What a person naturally is and what we expect them to be (supposed to be) are two different things.

Some men are naturally quite smooth, or have hair so light and fine you don't see it.

Aren't men wonderful? They come in so many shapes and sizes, and so many to chose from - smooth or hairy is merely one of hundreds of different varieties. From an aesthetic point of view its obvious that some guys don't like their hair and want to remove it. I go through phases of shaving completely, and then growing it like bear, and then just clipping it down to a set length. Its like hairstyles...its a look, do what you like...but most of all enjoy your bodies and keep an open mind.

Now to the issue bijockmuscle addresses....have you checked for other hair removal formulas? Australia has some of the best, as I believe the whole country waxes or uses hair removal cream...and each to their own for that. But, they have so many different formulas, especially made for men and those which address sensitive skin and skin easily prone to breaking out. Perhaps you can order this through the internet.

Say what again sweet pea?? since when has my country waxed or shaved or used hair removal cream??

From where does this massive generalisation come?

OOOH Your british.. terribly sorry... all sorted now.

BiJock, mate, leave the hair alone if you at all possibly can, or at max trim it using clippers, chest hair is incredibly hot.

But if you can't help your self then look into laser hair removal as has been mentioned.

I've done pretty much everything, and eventually settled on laser for my back and trimming for my front. It was costly, but I want to get a tattoo on my back some day so I needed to remove the hair - and shaving/trimming the back is pretty tough when done alone.

I had the same problem with nair, but I remember seeing on another thread that it only burns you if you leave it on too long - maybe you could try experimenting with it (or other products) again.

Incidentally, urban dictionary's word of the day is

manscaping!

I got tired of all the shaving and waxing so I bit the bullet and had laser treatments. It took about 7 but I have absolutely no hair growth in the areas that I had lasered. Abs, Chest, balls and Ass. It could be considered by some a little pricey, but it is spread out over each treatment ($175 each) so it really wasn't too bad.

$175 a treatment sounds pretty reasonable. Do they offer you a guarantee that your hair won't grow back? If so is it in writing?

I've heard of people getting skin discoloration from the procedure.
americanjusti... Posts: 44

You want to avoid places that guarantee because it's not a reasonable expectation and the fine print has a time limit of course.

Usually they'll charge $X per session for 5 to 7 sessions, then 1/2$X per treatment for each additional needed in the same area.

But not everyone is a candidate:

1) You MUST have dark hair
2) You MUST have white (the whiter the better) skin.

This means you cannot tan at all.. and the areas to be treated should not have seen sun in months (preferably years!!!!).

This is soooooo important.

Even the slightest sun exposure produces pigment in the skin.. this pigment will attract laser energy and literally burn the skin tissues where the pigment is. It can also bleach out or create spots in the skin in doing so and/or from scarring.

For example, 2 mins in the sun each day wearing a tshirt would render the top/back part of your neck impossible (or at least very unwise) to treat. Yes, the pigment is that big of a deal.

So if you've had even a single tanning session of your upper body and want to laser your chest or something, you'll want to put lasering off for one year and don't tan or expose to sun for even a second during that wait.

Finally... there's only one laser that's really worth anything in hair removal:

an alexandrite laser system, such as GentleLase

Anything like IPL or other systems aren't effective much at all.

Even with the best systems, like an alexandrite laser, you should expect no more than 20% reduction per treatment, because not all treated hairs will be killed enough AND most of the hair you have growing isn't actually growing at the time of treatment and thus the follicle hair root has receded and atrophied deeper into the skin and won't be "in bloom" enough to be killed until later when it's actively growing the hair.

Oh... and this is crucial: Any laser can be turned down such that it's more comfortable... doing so will still cause all your hair stubble (you MUST shave or trim to 1 mm before treatment) to vaporize and all your hair to fall out there and be hair free for weeks, but it'll grow back if you didn't put in enough energy.

The absolute minimum joules you want on an alexandrite system (even with thick hair) is around 20 joules. Note that the joules rating is independent of "spot size" (the size of the spot they treat per pulse; the larger the better). Usually a 20 joules at 18 mm spot size is the maximum the machine can output, and so if you want to use 24 joules the spot size will be made smaller so the machine can keep up. Note that joules is measure PER SQ CENTIMETER. This means that 20 joules 18 spot is the same treatment you get with 20 joules 9 spot. But larger spot sizes means less chance for missed hairs unless the operator is extremely skilled and pays close attention to detail. That said, if you can handle the pain of 22 or 24 joules of energy, then by all means do so! 24 joules will almost for sure guarantee that every growing hair in the spot pulse will be killed forever. But this can be a lot more painful than people realize, and so be sure to look for a firm with a doc that can prescribe 6% lidocaine/6% tetracaine mixed numbing cream.. which should set for 30 to 60 mins, and on smaller areas of skin. If you must do entire back or something, I'd recommend treating half of the back per day/treatment (dividing up your treatments) so that you're getting less numbing cream absorption (which is safer).

Hope that helps.

I would have to say that the most painful areas that I had treated were the back of my neck and on my fingers. Other than that, not a big deal at all. It just feels like a rubber band snap.

No there are no guarantees, however as stated above most med spas offer 50% on each treatment after your first 6. Plus, if you're friends with you technician, they'll generally do a quick free spot treatment is a wild hair pops up somewhere.

Being hairy is something that you either like or dislike. I am hairy but because hair tends to hold on to oil more, I tend to break out, more so in my back. So I have to trim it to limit the amount of breakouts. I use Norelco body trimmer and it gives me a really close shave. If I didnt have that problem I wouldnt do it. Being hairy is who I am now as an adult I love it. Granted growing up I was called many things, being in several teams. I was either an ewok, the bear, cousin it, the rug, the shag. But on the plus side I was the first to grow a beard so was never carded. I say if you dont like it, do something about it. If you change your mind, hey, it will always grow back.

I like men, not boys or women. I expect hair and enjoy it....LOL!

Bijockmuscle.....go with waxing, just make sure you have a reputable spa do it. It really isn't that bad and is nothing like the scene from the movie.."40 year old virgin".I have had my back and legs waxed...and still get my ears done.
The specialist should trim the hair down to about 1/4 inch , and then go with the waxing in small (1 inch) blocks at a time....takes time and is expensive....but the sex afterwards is AMAZING! LOL!

Being smooth ROCKS, but I find little hair on pecs and down the mane very attractive.

bijockmuscle saidI am a naturally hairy guy and I hate it!!! What is the best way to keep smooth? Shaving leaves stubble and I break out, trimming looks stupid, waxing casues pain and breakouts, Nair burns your skin off, and electrolosis is way too expensive...any other ideas?

I like guys keep his naturally hairy body, legs and arms. Only thing you should worry about shaving your back and shoulders

There are cultures and religions that forbid shaving the face. Is it "unnatural" to shave the face? Not for me!

Grooming is part of a civilized existence (even in primitive civilizations). Shaving, like bathing, is part of the routine for most of us. And today it's stylish to shave the head, whether or not balding has begun. So ... ?

Lots of guys don't grow much body hair (or not until they're middle aged) - do they look like "boys"? Not necessarily!

I trim back my chest hair several times a year just because it gets to feel like a "pillow" under t shirts! I use my razor to trim off stray hairs from shoulders and upper arms. I use the razor on my relatively light back hair , partly because it grows higher on one side than the other and looks so lopsided!

I feel for guys who have extreme hair on their backs and shoulders. I've known people who feel so self-conscious about it that they don't go to the beach, and dread even taking off their shirts in the locker room.

As far as removing hair, do what you like - and like who you do! But there really is no room to judge others in terms of whether shaving is natural or not - unless you're a member of the Taliban. We're not cave men (apologies to the Geico guys.)

americanjustin, that is a great post = I have a friend to share it with. He waxes his back regularly and has considered hair removal, so needs to know your details. You are a gentleman as well as a handsome guy!

One thing I'd add about shaving: where there is "light" growth on the back or shoulders, shaving cream is probably not only not necessary but not a good idea. Passing the razor over this light hair will remove it without help of soap or foam or cream (I do this after a shower, so hair stands up from the skin). then use a good quality shave balm.

Body skin - mostly - is far less sensitive than facial skin.

The other thing I recommend is using a new blade. Make it easy.

On the other subject - I noticed cock and ball shaving become popular shortly after condoms became part of the action. My hypothesis is that shaving the shaft put an end to painful hair pulling involved with condom removal! And I'm sure there are similar theories to go with cock rings, etc.

The first time I shaved my balls I vowed "never again" when it was growing back. But a later run-in with those pesky crabs (few of us get through life without that test of endurance!) drove me to shave the whole front of my body to end the torture. And afterwards I kept it up on my scrotum - it's just a heightened sensitivity. Not for everyone, but can be pretty exquisite. I sure don't mind if I'm with a guy who has hairy balls! (I frequently let the hair grow back on mine) but if they're smooth ... well, there's less stopping to pull hairs out of your mouth while in the throes of passion!
