My State Representative in the Florida House had a very bad go of it last week. He resigned his seat and will not run for re-election, his career is in jeopardy, marriage in huge trouble and reputation in the community is lower than whale shit right now.....

State Representative Mike Horner (R-Kissimmee) has been playing with the hos and the prostitutes! After a raid on a "house of prostitution" (in a residential subdivision no less), Horner's name was found on a "client list" in a trash can inside the house.....

First, and in typical Republican fashion, he blamed the news media for "erroneous reporting," however, pulled the plug on his re-election, political career and is on a leave of absence from his day job as President of the Kissimmee Chamber of Commerce.

Another "family values" Republican lies again.....

    And.....

Given the makeup of the district and Horner's name recognition (before he resigned), he would have received at least 75 percent of the vote as little known (not any more) Democrat, Eileen Game (D-Frostproof) had little money to wage a race with him (not any more!). Horner's name will still be on the ballot on Election Day as it is too late to change that information. Two days ago, the Republican Executive Committees of Osceola and Polk Counties (where the district lies) selected a complete unknown to replace Mike Horner. Any vote for Horner will go to his replacement, David De Rosa from Celebration.

Eileen Game went from having no money, no name and no chance in hell of winning to a lead in this race and a shot at being my new State Rep in the Florida House. This is how we need to win all of our races!!

    The OP article said:
"Any vote for Horner will go to his replacement, David De Rosa from Celebration."

    That's absolutely outrageous.
How can votes for one candidate be counted for another candidate ?

Since the Republican candidate (Horner) was expected to receive at least 75% of the votes, I think it's very likely that most Republicans will still vote for the Republican candidate, throwing the victory to the Republican replacement (De Rosa).

The ballots are printed and absentee ballots are out in the mail. What would you do?? There will be signs at the polling places stating a vote for Mike Horner will go to David De Rosa.

And...in a "Gee thanks, asshat" moment, Dave De Rosa said "By voting for me, I'll make sure my family has a chance to prosper......(then added a few seconds later).....and your family too!"

Beth Kassab of the Orlando Sentinel put it best recently....

"Mike Horner's campaign materials and official bio portray him as the prototypical conservative.

A pro-business Republican who cheers small government. A champion of lower taxes. A lifetime NRA member. And a made-for-a-political-brochure life: wife, son, dogs, cats and horses.

His startling resignation this week was a kick-in-the-gut reminder that what you see is not always what you get.

Horner dropped his bid for re-election to the Florida House after reports surfaced that his name appears on the client list for an east Orange County brothel that was shut down by police last month.

Prostitutes (and their pimp, who was arrested and charged with racketeering) just don't mix with Horner's clean-cut image."

This is virtually the same story that ran in Orlando, EXCEPT the part about catering to gay clients! Funny, the Herald got this info, whereas the Sentinel did not......
