Sad news. My camera for the past eight years, the one that's taken all of the nice pictures I've posted here, has died. 9.30.2012. On Saturday I posted a beautiful sky and field picture (reposted below). Afterward I drove to a drive-thru and took pictures of a squirrel while I eat. Here is one of the final pictures taken. Over the years I've taken thousands and thousands of photos. Many are in my "Calmness of Woods" DVD still available at http://www.victorrook.com/woods. RIP, my guy.

You might say it fell victim to your good nature.

Cameras don't die. They just force you to upgrade.

BTW, get a Hassy. On credit if you have to. Your work is deserving of such quality, and it WILL pay for itself. icon_wink.gif

Have Michael's frame it as a 2'x3' and send it to me.

I have the song "Memories" looping in my head.

So it's the pictures...we will remember...whenever we remember...

    The way we were.

Have you been building up a replacement fund in anticipation of its demise?

You take such beautiful pictures. Time to upgrade. Mine died about a year ago and luckily for me, my local camera shop had a layaway plan. Took advantage of it and did an upgrade.

Yeah, 8 years is like forever in the camera world, as with everything else these days. BTW, what actually went wrong with the old camera? Totally died, or began taking defective pics?

I'm presuming digital, and I've had them appear to go instantly dead when it was the lithium battery that failed all at once, one moment fine, the next nothing. I've also had cameras act weird when the memory card went bad without warning.

But cameras take a beating in use, not like home electronics, getting knocked around, sometimes a little wet, humidity, heat, etc. 8 years was a good run, not as if the OP got short changed.

Don't buy a Nikon, they are missing many features available on much lower price cameras. I guess that's why Nikon has to pay Ashton Kutcher to hawk their products. icon_cry.gif

I am so sorry for your loss. You two were so good together and all those little ones you two produced are so beautiful! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I've been a Nikon user for 8 years. My first (D70) still works great, and has all the features I need. My D7000 has MORE features than I need (like a gazillion different settings for autofocus and auto WB).

A replacement is on its way! Not the newer model I want, but an upgraded model that uses the same batteries and lenses I already have. So, I'm happy.

    EBAY! icon_wink.gif
