It took me 1.5 hours on a weekday (not Monday or Friday which I was told are the busiest days) to wait in line for renewing my driver's license (the actual picture taking took 5 minutes). I overheard plenty of young people who came specifically to get their licenses to vote, so that's at least a plus for trying to implement the law so close to an election.

Not only did I hear about this a little while ago, but I was also hearing that after Republicans passed a voter ID law back in March, people were already showing up to the DMV to get their photo IDs, and the Republicans were already trying to change the rules again. I think that is what the premise of the judge's decision to allow the injunction to stand ---- the Republicans don't have it together.

Photo ID isn't bad on its own, but it's undeniable that this year's photo ID Republican antics are intended to suppress the vote.

While I am glad the law was stopped prior to the election

........ but WTF? A sitting Judge cannot discern that this law and all the other republican spew isn't BLATANTLY undemocratic and deserving to be throw out immediately?

Well, it bides time for the law to be considered without the heat of an election and thwarts the attempt by the Republicans, who may give u since the whole reason will be passed.

Pennsylvania made a huge mistake. Obama definitely is going to win now.

President Obama already had a big lead in PA - but this will help guarantee Obama wins PA.
This ruling ensures that the Repubs won't be able to turn voters away on election day like they wanted to

Not really even that. This pissed off enough voters who were not already registered to go get registered just to tick off the state. Texas has seen an increase in voter registration because of us trying to pass a voter ID bill as well. It was a blatant poll tax.

I posted this in another thread, to help US voters learn before the November election if they're properly registered and eligible to vote. The verification procedures vary by State, and even by County, with some easier & quicker than others. So you may be taken through multiple links, and even have to use a phone number to determine your eligibility. Pennsylvania looks fairly direct and easy, just provide county name, voter name and birthdate online.
