I still love her, but more for what she did in the past. I haven't bought any of her recent albums and roll my eyes at her attempts to reclaim the spotlight.

Orson Scott Card - great sci fi fantasy writer. Then he got rather nasty-mormon at gays.

This, although I do like to see that women in pop don't have to roll over and die after 40, I agree that her earlier work is what really matters to most fans. I like some of her newer stuff, like Music is a good album, but, by and large "Like a Prayer" was her last really universally appealing album imo.

I never was that enthusiastic about her ... I could take her or leave her ... she had a few cool dance songs in the 80's, but that was about it ... I never really saw her as an icon and never understood all the hoopla over her. She did a spread (litterally) in a book, but that didn't make her special .... at least not in my eyes ... and now she has legs that remind me of grandma legs

I was not much into her in the 80's, but did not dislike her. Back then there were the Madonna fags, but I belonged to a more exclusive group known as the Siouxsie fags.

Agree. She still tries to appeal to today's teenagers and looks weird doing it. Her older fans have developed and her current stuff doesn't appeal anymore.

More power to women over 40 in pop music!

I was never a fan of hers and only ever liked a few songs. Her new stuff doesnt appeal to me. But she is a true survivor in that industry. ~30 years after she hit the music scene we are still talking about her. There are extremely few 80's artists that could make the news today.

So have I... think it may be that she has already outdone herself with the early years of her career... Its all downhill now.

    Still love all her classics.

Love Madonnas stuff big time but she really blew it with the public with American Life and turned everyone off.

The music on the last two releases pretty much sucks..so while I love her and her stuff I have stopped liking any of the new crap she has put out.

Her last decent album was Confessions on a Dancefloor in 05. Since then her music has been terrible. She is trying too hard to remain relevant in the music scene but she just can't seem to pull it off. She new album sound like something RIhanna would have sang, but a worse attempt. On top of that, she isn't a very good song writer or vocalist. She needs to hire Kylie Minogue's music producers to give her some much needed advice on how to act your age yet still make hit music...

MDNA was ok for like a week.
Then I took it completely off my iPod. Her tour is getting great reviews tho, you got to giver her credit for that.

who is giving her advice? I mean okay she wants to be relevant but her sound and production on Hard Candy was dated by the time it came out...and ditto for MDNA, really quite behind the times. She would have been better off just sticking to her past sound.

She should work with Calvin Harris, in fact Madonna should lend vocals on some of the newer DJs and producers instead of releasing a whole cd. I think thats the only way she can get a legit hit again but she probably thinks she is beneath being a guest vocalist.

I thought Jon Voight was phenomenal in Midnight Cowboy when I first saw it, but then he turned into a sad, wingnut flying monkey who doesn't get invited to Thanksgiving anymore.

When I heard "We Found Love" by Rihanna it sounded perfect for what Madonna should be singing. An upbeat, club ready dance number that doesn't require strong vocals. Why can't she come up with songs like these on her own? And she doesn't need to being using rappers to help her land a hit song. Nobody is buying Madonna is urban or part of hip hop culture.

I like Madonna, I grew up listening to the Immaculate Collection. While MDNA is not her best work, it's my guilty pleasure. I've been getting into her American Life album but I do think her last great album was her Confessions album. What I liked about Confessions was that it had catchy strong dance songs with a mature sound for her age.

She needs to go back to that and realize she can still make great pop/dance music without having to cater to teenagers.

I also liked "confessions on a dancefloor" better than MDNA and Hard candy

I stopped listening to Ciara, BEPeas, Rihanna didn't like their albums , well the most recent ones...

I share the opinion that I enjoy her past work more than her recent. I haven't really bothered much with anything she's released since Confessions on a Dance Floor. It's been a little weird to see her become a trend follower when she used to be a trendsetter. Basically the only thing keeping her afloat now is her massive tours, peep shows, and her so-called "rivalry" with Gaga.

Marta Sánchez needs some similar help in that regard too.

Girl Gone Wild was nice, but the single before it was trash. I didn't even listen to MDNA, let alone whole albums of hers. I just know her singles and she had a few good songs mid-2000's.

I think she lost the mainstream audience with her 'stunt' of revealing her nipple during a concert.

She should do more collaborative work with younger artists instead, because when she tries to compete with the people that are really hot right now she'll just look bad. MDNA wasn't a bad attempt, but the next one could be her last as well as make her a laughing stock.
