This is just another example of ancient windbags (with authority) holding onto the idea that homosexuality is a choice.

I've been told this by many native Jamaicans, but didn't fully believe it until now.

Interesting. A quick google and I find out that we Canadian taxpayers are funding numerous projects over there.. take a look at $4.8 million dollar waste in light of this news http://www.acdi-cida.gc.ca/CIDAWEB/cpo.nsf/vWebCSAZEn/CBAAE2D8647FCE7A852572F70037150C

    Another $14 million for them

Quote from their Minister of Education

I wish to make it quite clear that in the rewrite of that particular aspect of it, however it came to be, we are not going to be promoting homosexuality in this country. We're just not going to do it," Thwaites said to applause from the Rotarians.
"We are going to promote healthy heterosexual relationships, but with a tolerance and compassion for those who adopt a different lifestyle. There is a difference between grooming and conditioning, and being tolerant; and that distinction is quite possible for us to craft,"

I found Jamaicans to be a happy people ..... but they are also a conservative lot. HOWEVER, most of the men of privilege I met were engaged in serial extra marital affairs. icon_eek.gif

Disgrace. Still holding on to parochial beliefs that elucidates the country's lack of intelligence/education.

That's because the only things in Texas are steers and queers.

Although, the queers are quite horny. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm sorry but me being a Jamaican both of my parents were born and raised in Jamaica. I've lived there and also went to school there for 3 years. I do not stand by this article nor do i stand by these comments.

It clearly states: "We are going to promote healthy heterosexual relationships, but with a tolerance and compassion for those who adopt a different lifestyle"

When it comes to gay men Jamaica is no different than those here in the United States I grew up learning to accept others for who they are and what they love. Just because one man decides that he wants children to learn more about heterosexuals relationships than homosexuals which by the way is nothing new in Jamaica, does not mean all of Jamaica is like that. I can tell you that there are people who aren't accepting and then there are people who are, just like in any other country. Jamaica believes that the Island should be disciplined and governed by the rules of the bible this is nothing new.

This does not make Jamaica a horrible place. This just makes the minister of education a horrible person for wanting something like this to take place.

When the minister of education is considered a "reliable source" by most of society, that DOES make Jamaica a horrible place.

And I have several friends and acquaintances from there.
