There's a thin line between gay fat and being a bear.
I mean, assuming you have any body hair.

Calling somebody else fat won't make you any skinnier. Calling someone stupid doesn't make you any smarter.

Ten pounds ago my gym manager said I had a visible 8 pack but unless the lighting was absolutely optimal I didn't see it.

So if I call myself gay-fat that doesn't make me gay-skinny? Damn.

Not sure, but I think that makes you straight-skinny.

No, call yourself gay-skinny and you will be gay-skinny. If that doesn't work, go to a bear bar and look at the guys around you.

What the hell does ''gay-fat'' mean ? Something like... for gay men you're considered as fat, but for straight men you wouldn't be considered as fat ?

    I need to know >_>;

    Yes, exactly that. I'm gay-fat, I don't have a six pack.

The concept of gay fat is retarded. Its one thing to feel fat every so often, its another thing to be in great shape and actually believe you're fat. That's what we call an eating disorder.

I thought so. Why do gay men have such unrealistically high standards for body image and physical apperance? I mean, guys don't need Adonis' body to be attractive and sexy...

Speaking of which, more people should watch the documentary ''The Adonis Factor''.

throughout history, MEN have been the "judgers" in society. We are the ones that held court to determine what was right and wrong and set social norms and policies. even when it came to determining a wife or concubine, we chose and decided what was considered attractive and beautiful and "THE BEST".

So as gay men wanting to find a suitable mate, either for a one night stand or for a long term relationship, most men feel the need to make themselves "THE BEST" in order to find a suitable mate. We want to make ourselves as attractive as possible to be chosen. and many gay men help to progenerate that attitude by only accepting people of certain "highly maintained" physiques regardless of personality.

A very interesting exposition (and well-written, if I may offer the compliment). I would only offer the additional thought regarding what constitutes being attractive. Because I don't think there's a unanimous opinion about that in our gay community.

I'm reminded of yesterday, when my partner & I were having lunch at an outdoor cafe popular with gays. And a couple walked past us, one a bear in a minimal tank top that revealed (deliberately, we assumed) a back and shoulders that were more furry than a black shag rug.

We "judged" him as you say, and both commented how unattractive that was to us, and he should cover up that thatch in public where people are eating. But I guess his companion was fine with it, they seemed a couple, and I know lots of guys who like that beefy & hairy bear look over any other. But it's not for us - we favor the well-defined muscular look with just some accent hair, even if we'll never see it on ourselves again.

Thank you, Art_Deco. I have always enjoyed reading your posts. very insightful and informative. I appreciate your story there. it just goes to prove my point even more.

when going to a mainstream gay club, you see men trying to show of their well chiseled physique. When I would go to a "bear" bar.... there was a different approach to beauty. A belly on a man was far more accepting in that scene. a huskier or rugged or more hirsute man was considered attractive and the norm.

You're welcome. BTW, just professional curiosity, are you a tank mechanic? I was a 63C, Wheel & Track Mechanic if the MOS designation is the same after 40 years, before I took a commission and switched to MP. Trained at Fort Knox, later a motor sergeant there, one of my favorite assignments.

Somebody fishing for compliments to the contrary and for reaffirming ego-boosts, also, to portray a false, and or, exaggerated display of modesty so people will like them more icon_rolleyes.gif

[EDIT] : Oh, GAYYYYY-fat? My bad. I hurriedly misread the title. In that case: yeah, somebody who has an over 15% Body Fat ratio, aka, average but still vague muscle definition, and skin that can be pulled and rolled between several fingers, whilst flexing the muscle beneath.

No. My first MOS was 19K: M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank Crewman.
After Iraq, I re-classed to 68W: Combat Medic. I still hold 19K as my secondary MOS, so if need be, the army COULD switch me back if they were starving for Tankers.
