Doesn't it all boil down to just taking in less calories than you burn? ...How you get to that state is just a personal choice.

Diet. Exercise. or Diet and Exercise.

Which diet you select is more a case of which one you can stick to.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is the highly touted way to exercise and increase calorie burning.

I have been working out with a person trainer for 10 months now. ...I found that my lifestyle changes have been more of a progression. ....It took time for me to transition into the new lifestyle. ...I wasnt willing emotionally to make all the changes at once. ..Intellectually I could accept it, but emotionally, I just couldnt do it all once. ...It took experiencing/seeing successes for my emotional side to be willing to buy into more and more changes. ...And those changes weren't always made consciously....especially for eating. I see that my whole way of eating now is done more consciously. ...With no mental angst at all, I "evaluate" the food that I eat for it nutrition and relation to all that I have eaten for that day.

Have you ever considered consulting a dietitian to help you come up with a weight loss plan?

I definitely agree. This would need to be your first step. You also need to realize that a goal like this may not be fully attainable given your genetics.

That's partly why I am going to sign up for the RJ Weight-Loss Challenge.

I thought about that, but I thought I would benefit more from face to face sessions. Plus I'm getting measured monthly, so I feel some accountability.

I probably would too, but it's free. Besides, every dietician I have ever met with throws me right into the diabetic meal plan which stresses grains and starches over anything else.

I am type 2 so it doesn't really apply to me. Unfortunately we get lumped in with Type 1 by the medical establishment. They are unwilling to cede that a Type 2 diabetic has different needs. I have a co-worker who takes 10 units of Humalog at every meal. All I have to do is take a pill twice daily.

Well, if they dont pick you, I am gonna just spit. Who has been around the longest, suffered the most, tried the hardest than YOU?

Who have we had to listen to the longest, encourage the most, gotten agitated with the more than YOU?

If they dont pick you, I give up on ever trying to figure out the Powers That Be on RJ.
