This would've made my day if it had been Frankie Figueroa. But congrats to this guy anyway, I guess.

Good luck to Orlando, who fights for the WBO world featherweight title this weekend in Vegas.

USA TodayCruz is engaged to boyfriend Jose Manuel and the two will wed in November.

In addition to his rainbow trunks, Cruz will also be wearing pink gloves to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.

(via Joe.My. God.)Cruz at today's weigh-in before tonight championship bout.

Guardian (UK)Cruz understands how this fight will smudge the boundaries between the personal and professional. He even implies that Salido, as a Mexican, might be troubled by facing a gay fighter.

"My coming out made it harder for him. He will have it in his mind that he's fighting a homosexual for the world title."

Is he suggesting Salido might be homophobic? "He's professional with me but Mexicans often have something homophobic in them. It's the machismo culture. He won't want to lose to a gay man. Salido will be much more aggressive. He will want to make a statement because I'm gay. But he'll fall into the trap by being macho. I'll let him come at me, and I'll show him then. The only language I will use is spoken by my fists. They will do my talking."

Salido, a former champ, is favored, largely due to his superior size (height and reach).

Salido's winning each of the first two rounds, scoring with better punches using his advantageous reach.

He got two low blow warnings already though, and he doesn't want to lose points and give the underdog Cruz a chance at pulling this out late.

Salido's made easy work of Cruz in the next two rounds, he's up 40-36. Cruz isn't getting inside without catching big right hands from Salido.

Just a note... however this thing goes, this is definitely not the best time to be on Twitter! Twitter's Homophobia All-Stars are out in full force tonight, and repping their mama's basement well.

Cruz may have gotten a couple rounds in his column! He's still taking a pummeling but he's seems pretty much unaffected by the blows. Salido's just loading up points with the judges. Cruz is attacking more and showing better timing with his punches as the match drags on. Consensus is Salido's won 5 of the first 6 rounds.

Whoops! Spoke too soon! Cruz ate an uppercut annnnnnd he's out!

    7th round KO for Salido!

No shame for Cruz, though, it was a tough matchup tonight against an ex-champ! He'll be back battling it out again soon!

    A classy victor.

Top Rank Boxing (via Twitter)Salido: Cruz is strong, punches hard & he moves around the ring really well. I had to fight with intelligence.
