I was at my female cousin's engagement party last night and she noticed I wasn't talking to any of the pretty girls there so she right away tries to set me up with one. She called the girl over and I just spoke to her but thankfully she was on her way out anyway. I wanted to yell at the top of my lungs, "I'm gay dammit" lol. Instead I told her I'm not looking for anything with anybody since I'm trying to get my shit together lol.

My family is so big that when they do find out about me the whole family is gonna know within hours. If I know them they'll have huge, long conversations about me but it's all good. I'm kind of eager to see their reactions when and if that day comes. It's funny because I have a younger cousin who was at the engagement party too who just graduated from college and he doesn't seem to be dating girls but he never seems to get questioned like I do lol. I always suspected that he might possibly be gay too.

Wait until they try to set you up with men!

"Xyz in accounting is gay. Maybe you 2 will hit it of. Would you like to meet him?"

"My hairdresser is such a darling and so unhappy with the men he meets. Do you want me to introduce you?"

While no doubt an unwelcome offer for most gay men, I gotta wonder whether it could nevertheless be seen as a mark of our increasing acceptance and "normalization" within society in general. Straight guys & girls have been put through this ordeal forever, so I guess we gays can't complain too much when it happens to us, if it's a price for not being treated like outcasts.

It's a sign of growing acceptance, for sure. I was more making fun of the only common thing being that the other guy is gay as well. We'd be all in LTRs if that were all it takes.

Mom set me up with one of her friend's kid. They had tried getting us to meet for a year or two but we both kept avoiding it. Then on that fated day when we met, it was love at first sight and lasted 10 years until he died. Even on that first day we never left each other's side. The chemistry was incredible. Kind of wish we had that first year or two as well, but we more than made up for it.

One of my biggest grievances with my family and friends is that for the most part, they don't try to hook me up like they would their str8 friends. They don't behave like that willfully but it is definitely disciminatory.

My mom tried to get with this Armenian guy with a Mercedes's from narcotics anonomys. THAT was embarrassing.
I was surprised she did that tho, a step forward I guess.

You say you have a huge family, so you'll probably have someone there to support you. Keep your head up, don't expect the worst.

Yeah it is nice that people care enough to even attempt to hook you up with somebody. My whole family, over 100 people are all pretty much religious on some level so I hope some of them will be supportive. I believe my sister will be since she is cool with my cousin who just came out and she recently met his boyfriend.
