I'm more likely to make smutty comments about that BMC you're riding. I'll be honest... I don't lube my chain often. Usually I go by feel..... if it feels dry I'll lube it some.

Every time I pump up my innertubes.

(Did you mean something like that?)

You should ALWAYS use plenty of lube.

Reminds me of a visit to a CO Springs bike shop, me being a SC mountain biker at the time. "So, how do you guys keep these bikes so clean?"

gets blanks look and hears small wheels turning

"Sometimes we blow them off with an air hose."

That just doesn't work if you dip your bike in mud every other ride. I was in the habit of lubing up before every ride - including the clipless pedals.

At least twice a week. Always, always after a wet ride, or after cleaning the bike.

And while saliva is a good lube, it's not on your chain (how's that for smutty?)

I use a silicone based lubricant. The other types tend to get messy ... and messy cleanup isn't fun for me. Usually once a week

I just lubed my bike 2 weeks ago and man, I can really tell the difference from no squeeky sounds and also gained more flow and speed. So this would be my first time lubbing up icon_biggrin.gif.
