Defeating an incumbent president running for reelection is a hugely difficult and rare feat.
History tells us that two factors are required for it to happen:

1.) The incumbent president must have had a recession hit ON HIS WATCH.

2.) The challenger must be an extremely charismatic and gifted politician.

The only times in modern political history that an incumbent president has failed to win reelection were 1992 and 1980 - and in those elections both factors were in place.

In this election NEITHER of the factors apply.
