Can anyone recommend some good protein supplements for people who are lactose intolerant? I recently bought egg protein and so far so good with that, but it's on the expensive side at 30 dollars for two pounds. Does anyone know of cheaper alternatives? I know that soy protein is cheaper, but I really haven't heard anything positive about soy.

Soy is actually good for you, despite what you've read. I mix silk soy milk with my protein powders.
Muscle milk is lactose free, and it tastes great. And it's affordable.

You can get lactose free whey protein as well. However I prefer soy protein myself.

Soy is very good for you. For body building it will work just as well as whey but there seems to be some evidence that it takes a tad longer. Don't listen to the unfounded critical ideas about soy floating around which has mostly been spear-headed by Mercola. The problem with his evidence is that it's just his "belief" rather than based on something conclusive.

That being said, no one needs to really go out of their way to get enough protein in their diet -- people get way too much protein already. I suppose if you're body-building then you need a little more but vegetables and fruits should dominate your diet if health is the primary goal. Hell, I don't even really need to eat soy meat substitutes but I enjoy the taste so much that I consume them in moderation.
