Hey, guys...I'm looking for any advice/help with trimming my wiastline.
I currently have about a 34" and would love to rip-it-down to 30-31"!
I'm religious about my cardio, (6 times a week 40 mins each), determined with my weight training, (6 days a week, 90 minutes), watch my dietary intake, (5 meals...protien, minimal carb, veggies).

I'm trying to achieve that fantastic "V" look that is so impressive in the gym and at the beach!

Any suggestions/modifiactions to the daily routine? exercises? nutrients? increase cardio?
    Any ideas are welcome!

    Thanks,

    GnB

muchmorethanmuscle said But if you want a more V-taper look perhaps focus on building up your lats, your deltoids to give you the illusion of the V taper.

    best advice right here

I always thought that all that core on the ball stuff was a load of waffle until I tried itr and if made real difference in getting my waist down to 30 inchs. Give it try and see what it does for you. Most gyms have core classes so that s a good place to start.

However, I think I had more fat around my waist than you do. I'd like to get really defined but that means going down to a 28inch waist and getting that manboy look thing going on.

If there is no fat left to remove on the waist then you are going to have to widen the top. That means working lats, lateral deltoids, chest, etc. I had excellent results in getting a narrow waist (28.5) with high and low woodchop(per)s, weighted crunches, weighted contra-lateral crunches, and hanging straight leg lifts. Some people get over worried and say oh if you do twisting motions with weight you will make your waist thicker and lose your V. This can happen if you use heavy weight, do it for a long time and don't keep track of your measurements, but you never end up with a thick waist overnight from this. I've found those exercises to be incredibly helpful in developing abdominal definition. For you if your waist is already naturally thicker, then you may want to be careful with heavy weight, but some weight could certainly be used to increase definition. Bottom line though to improve your V, work on the muscle groups mentioned above. I particularly like the straight arm dumbbell pullover for hitting lats, chest, and serratus anterior muscles for widening the upper part of the V.

You will have better luck targeting the abdomen with High Intensity Interval training, then the long moderate endurance type of cardio.

    Good luck bro.

Hey guy, I would recommend you try to get a 32 to 33 waiste ,But if you are doing all that cardio and weight training, then you should be there, unless your diet is not as clean as it should be. But I was a 30 waist until 32 years old, I was elated because I finally felt manly, crazy but I actually like being a 32, I then went to 33 at 37, back down to 31 due to program, but would like to get to 32 and stay. A man should have a 32 waist, or more I think. It is more sexy, actually the waist does not matter as long as there is no pouch in front.
Your frame may not be suited to a 31, and life is too short not to indulge in good food, not junk food, to worry about keeping a 30 waist. If you eat clean, you can actually eat well and keep a good routine and not worry. But do not eat processed foods, just natural fresh foods, keep up the work outs to.

try some HIIT cardio. Do intervals of running/walking for 1 minute each. Warm up for 5 min on the treadmill at maybe 3 or so, then do intervals of 9.5/3.5 (whatever u can do) for as long as u can, up until uve been doing intervals for 20 minutes, then cool down. It's a great burn.

We guys tend to "thicken" at the waist as we age.. For me it's as much cardio as I can get. And go for the shoulders, delts, lats. Add where you can!
Then butt and legs. Make the waist less noticeable.

    Smoke and mirrors guy!
