I'll be there for a year or so, and will be living in the Miraflores area.

I'm looking for suggestions for a good gym in the area - preferably one that is functional/bodyweight training friendly. I can adapt to more traditional weight training setups. I'm not big on cardio machines -- they bore me to tears, and then some.

Also, while I'm in Peru, I want to do some exploring. I'm already planning on Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and other things, but I'd love to hear about interesting places that aren't necessarily on the well-trod tourist paths.

My ex lived in Miraflores. But it was a long time ago, so I doubt he'd be able to recommend a gym.

Since you're in the center you should use it as base; do salar de uyuni in Bolivia route to San Pedro de atacama in chile via jeep tour. You can fly to Santa Cruz or bus from Lima. Patagonia in the south. Amazonas in the east. Maybe even do Rio De Janeiro or fly to G Islands or Easter island. Do everything!
