In my private life, I start telling people when I was 18. but kept it private pretty much since then.
In the Army, I have only told a select few that I trusted in each unit I have been with. When I was in Korea, we were at a bar in Uijeongbu, (Tomsville if any of you know that bar, then you got cool points), when one of my friends who was drunk said, "B*****, I love you, Man. I don't care that you are gay. you are my BROTHER. We need to find you a man". He was too drunk to realize that 1/2 our platoon was sitting around the table hearing every word he said. he said, "Oh, SHIT. I'm sorry, Battle. I didn't mean. oh, god." but it didn't matter. everyone started talking to be about it and asking me questions. and they didn't care. it felt really good to be able to have people know about me and still not worry about being judged.
